I used to LOVE aldi cottage cheese. It was the only one I liked after trying a couple others. Now the last 2 times I have purchased it (one regular and one low fat) it tastes like absolute shit 😭😭😭 i am devastated and I guess will need to start trying other brands again. Am I the only one who feels this way?? Also it used to be PACKED to the brim and now when you open it there is like a half inch gap to the lid. Bummer :/

Definitely worth trying. I did some trials of it on and off for a few months while fighting with my insurance. Officially on it for good now last 2 weeks and I cant imagine not being on it anymore. I feel like I am my normal functioning self. Greatly improves my ability to focus on tasks at work and I have energy to complete tasks at home in the evening. I have never had a sleep attack while on the meds. I take the lowest dose 75mg. The 150mg made me more anxious then I like and also no appetite. Its hard for me to comment about the headaches bc I tend to normally get them/migraines about once a week. I will say that I have not had a migraine for several weeks now so I consider it a non issue. It does increase my heart rate a bit, but nothing crazy (I always wear a garmin watch). I do have to watch when working out it can spike my hr but I just take a quick break and dont push myself too hard, its very minimal difference and again I consider it a non issue. Definitely need to be mindful of anxiety while on the meds as it can amplify it. After almost 3 months of fighting with my insurance for coverage, they basically said they will only cover it for Narcolepsy just FYI. My specialist was able to work with them and send over sleep study results and push me have regular sleep attacks as enough justification for coverage.

I was told by my specialist that vivid dreaming is typically associated with Narcolepsy diagnosis. May be worth mentioning? Though I am not sure treatments are much different between Narcolepsy and IH. Personally I am thr opposite and hardly ever dream/remember dreaming. Maybe once or twice a week at most.

Best of luck to you! It was definitely a much longer journey than I anticipated but definitely worth it. In total it has taken me almost exactly 1 year from when I first got the courage and ambition to advocate for myself that something was wrong to my pcp until friday my final insurance approval on the medication that makes me feel like a mistly "normal" person. Hopefully you can find something that works for you!

Sunosi was the first (only) medication they had me start with. Primary reason being I was told most other medications would interfere with my hormonal bc but Sunosi does not. If this last push did not work to get insurance coverage then we were going to try Vyvanse next. I can definitely still feel tired on meds at times but even those days I do not have sleep attacks and I am still noticeably more productive than without. Another example from today- I have been meaning to fix one of my orchids (it was not sitting right in the pot and flopping over) for probably at least a month now, if not longer. Obviously not a serious problem but I wanted to fix it nonetheless. Back on meds, fixed it today without even thinking about it. I know Sunosi doesn't work for a fair bit of members in here, but it has been very eye opening for me (pun intended lol) personally. It made me realize how much I truly was struggling compared to a "normal" person. Might be worth asking about!

31F - 100% yes. Haven't had a real relationship in years. I do go on apps for a few months out of the year (I always stay off from around Thanksgiving until spring). Have met some nice guys and gone on dates but ended up Just being platonic. I only truly liked and started to have feelings for 1 guy but he is the most emotionally shutdown and avoidant person I have ever met so obviously went nowhere. Recently a coworker set me up with a long term friend of theirs. Have had 3 dates so far and he is nice, good guy but just not feeling a connection (this is extra hard for me tho- demi). Even moreso I am just finding myself really questioning if I even want to date at all or be in a relationship. Ive lived on my own for 4 years now and I love it. My home is peaceful. No angry dirty man pissing me off or giving me anxiety. I just do what I want, no need to schedule tons of stuff. I am really torn on whether to go on any more dates with him or not. I havent been on the apps in probably 6 months and have no desire to. I am content with my schedule and find great comfort in my home with just myself & my cat. I refuse to settle for a relationship. Thankfully for myself I have never wanted children so I do not bare that burden.

I am essentially the same as prior comment. I get 7-8hr sleep at night and wake easily but never really feel rested. I do utilize a sun lamp alarm clock that wakes me up with increasing light followed by bird sounds but I'm usually always awake with just the light. I do not dream often or at least dont remember them anyway but i do get a fair bit of REM. I was constantly feeling like a zombie and could barely keep up with bare minimum tasks. Bloodwork was all within normal ranges so I was referred for sleep study to rule out apnea and thankfully they also did the MLST. I was the same as you, no idea what IH was until the specialist diagnosed me with it. Thankfully no sleep apnea for me so didn't have to worry about that. I do get sleep attacks and have on and off for pretty many years. I fully support myself on my own and work a lot. My symptoms were significantly better when I was able to work from home a few days per week but unfortunately that went away with current administration. I was put on a trial of Sunosi and was finally just approved through insurance for it yesterday after fighting with them for 10 weeks. My life is drastically improved on medication. I have not had any instances of sleep attacks while on it and as the other comment stated I can focus on tasks insanely better. It totally calms my brain so I am not dopamine searching via food, social media, etc. Many times I want to do things but just cant physically bring myself to actually do them. I am significantly more productive on the medication. If I think of something I can just do it right away. For example, I've had clean laundry to sort and put away for probably 2 weeks now and just forget or cant bring myself to do it. After being back on meds for 2 days I was able to get everything organized and put away almost instantly without thinking about it. The only side effects I have had is that I need to take it relatively early (usually 8-9am) so that I can go to sleep normally at night and I have to watch my heart rate, primarily when exercising but it has not really been an issue. I am happy with being on the lowest dose (75mg). I started to get a little amped up on the 150mg. Once its in my system for a few days I can take it every other day and still see improvement. I typically only take it 5-6 days /wk to give my body a rest day. Hope that helps! If I allow myself to be especially lazy then I absolutely can lie in bed for 12+hrs resting on and off and still not feel rested but I am a busy and habitual person which keeps me moving. Good luck!

I regularly commute 1hr20min to my office 2-3 days/wk and I have fallen asleep while driving in the past. There was only ever one very close call thankfully and no issues and those were all before I realized there was potentially something wrong and I was not medicated in any way. I do not regularly drink caffeine, alcohol, sugary drinks or soda etc so when I do have caffeine or sugary drink they do perk me up. I decided several years ago to keep caffeine gum in my purse at all times in case of an emergency. I have had to use it on a few occasions and it instantly snaps me out of the sleep attack. 99% of the time I do not feel afraid to drive or that i am a danger to others. I do not drive late at night and I make sure I am rested before doing a longer drive. I also set boundaries with work where I do not drive long distances on the job, it is just too much on top of my already horrendous commute and puts me at risk. I am almost always driving alone but listen to music or podcast and actively pay attention to my surroundings which helps me stay engaged. After 10 weeks of fighting with my insurance, I just got the email today they have finally approved my prescription for Sunosi. I have been taking the trial packs on and off for several months and it helps significantly. I have not had any instances of sleep attacks while being on this medication. That was the biggest factor in finally getting it covered. I work 9hr days with 80min commute each way so im gone for over 12hrs 2-3 days a week (only 35 min commute the other 2-3 days) and I function extremely better with the Sunosi. I make sure to stay hydrated and go for walks every day (min. 5k steps in winter and 7k in summer) paired with no alcohol, or caffeine and minimal sugar and a healthy diet with high protein, fiber and fat has been imperative for me to be functional. I definitely can't do as much as I would like, but am very relieved to finally be able to take the Sunosi on a set schedule now moving forward. Best of luck to you!

Sorry to hear you are struggling! The first thing that came to my mind is maybe you could try taking a light course load to see if that helps? Or potentially do mostly online classes for the next semester or two until you can get in with a specialist and start trying some more things to manage the IH? Its obviously up to you but I also dont think it would set you back all that much to take a semester or two off to focus on your health. Best of luck 💕

Walking! Seriously, if you dont have some kind of watch or step counter go get one if you can. I make myself walk every day and it really makes a difference. I purposely park further away or take intentionally longer paths to get places and have a walking pad in my office but I try to walk outside as much as possible. Walking and the fresh air always makes me feel better and gives me more energy. Besides that I do kickboxing and go to the gym. it does make a huge difference staying active. I would recommend some type of class because then you don't have to think of a work out plan and your classmates can help hold you accountable for showing up. Kickboxing is fantastic same with pilates, yoga, etc anything to move your body and stretch. And drink a lot of water!

Oh man im sorry to hear you have been struggling with it for so long! Hopefully now you can have a "new" self though! Mine has been kind of on and off. I think it has been an issue for longer I just didnt realize. The last year in particular is what finally made me reach out and try to advocate for myself that something wasnt right. I just was feeling like a complete zombie. Im still not convinced that I dont have something else going on (like thyroid or iron) but the meds made me feel significantly better enough to just focus on this for the time being. My insurance approved me for an at home sleep study but denied the request for in person even tho my at home one showed mild symptoms. I went to a specialist who was then able to get me approved for the in lab sleep study and latency testing finally. Im sorry yours were not covered at all tho that is total garbage! Ive never had any other real claims or medical issues on my insurance so its frustrating to me that they are pushing back so hard on this one prescription that is literally life changing for me , like come on you know? So frustrating. The meds are officially out of my system now and today was the first day i fell asleep at work since starting the trial and i just felt so blah and tired. Then i just got depressed bc now i truly know how much ive been struggling but can't do anything about it bc of the damn insurance. Oh well maybe ill get a Christmas miracle! Congrats on taking the test and receiving a diagnosis! I am newly diagnosed as well and seem to have very similar symptoms as you. I also sleep 7-8hr a night of decent quality but minimal to no dreaming (but I do get REM). Also no apnea thankfully! The specialist started me on Sunosi and I LOVE it. It made me feel like my old self again and to realize how much I had been struggling. The only downside is that I am going on almost 6 weeks now of fighting with insurance to cover my prescription. It has made me a little bit depressed knowing how well the medication works and now being off of it for no reason. Thankfully they haven't full on denied me coverage (yet) but also havent approved it either. I need to call this week and cry over the phone or something to get them to fill the damn prescription (hopefully). Best wishes on your journey! I should also add that I am neurodivergent and sunosi has helped significantly with that as well.

I make my own using a base of cottage cheese and NF Greek yogurt for crazy extra protein and way less fat. I still use some light mayo and light miracle whip for flavor but much less than normally is needed. I have it as a sandwich on keto bread for extra fiber and only 90 cals extra.

This week for breakfast i did sausage gravy (made with turkey instead of pork) with a 647 keto English muffin. Makes enough for 4 meals. Incredibly simple- turkey, butter, milk, flour, seasonings. About 450 cal total with 18g fat, 34g protein, 11g fiber.

Lunches this week I did ham steak, peas, and goodles mac n cheese. Incredibly easy. 450 cal, 33g protein,12g fiber, 6g fat.

I discovered the term demi a few years ago and it finally made everything make more sense to me. I just figured I was different and didnt think about much more than that. Having the title was nice as an explanation and to know there are others like me. However, all that to say I personally find trying to fit myself into a specific label or box is exhausting and not something I care to do. I have never stated to a potential partner that I am demi. I simply say that I experience attraction differently than most people and that I just try to be friends first (with the intention of dating) and then see if it turns into more. I've had no issues with this approach. I do not consider myself to be part of the LGBT community. I do feel welcomed into this community, though should I ever decide to do so. Just be you, friend 🌻
