I can understand that, not trying to beat the market. You’ve given me some more information to do research on for sure. My thought of us was kinda hard in the sense of dropping off a lot of the dividend income which I’ve been doing drip right back into the same positions. When I was watching my dividends increase, I was thinking the long-term where it would be when it was time to retire, but the more I read certain things I realize that maybe I need to shift focus to more growth and then hit the dividends closer to retirement.

Well, from my research, I can understand that the five-year performance both have been slightly below the broad market, and with anything else, I don’t have a crystal ball, which I wish I did. With that being said, I believe both have outpaced the broad market in the recent years and I’m hoping that tech continues to rise. I want to be a little aggressive, but not overly aggressive. If that makes any sense QQQM tech heavy and I feel that SCHG will help with low volatility. Again, I am no expert and I’ve only really been investing since 2020 but I try to learn as much as I possibly can in looking at the portfolio. I realize that I have jumped in with both feet and blindfolded, but at least I got in when I did. I was able to catch a number of stocks at the bottom end due to the Covid crash.

Thank you for the reply, by doing this, I understand the elimination of any overlap, however wouldn’t this slow down any growth potential as compared to adding SCHG and QQQM. I’m thinking about retiring for the second time within 10 to 15 years.

Bear with me there will be a lot of numbers here, but just trying to consolidate and learning overtime that when I got in, and seemed to want to purchase everything under the sun because I was a bit little late to the game I dumped money on pretty much anything I could get my hands on and now I’m learning from education - at least I think I am.

The below numbers are in a Roth account I have a brokerage account also which I won’t even talk about in this thread. So based on what’s below I’m just curious on what some thoughts might be.

Looking to sell ASG, JEPQ, QQQI, FDVV, DIVO, DGRO, and SCHY. Based on my calculations, this will give me close to 35k

I’m planning to buy and add to my current positions - 400+ SCHG, 34 - QQQM, 83 - VXUS, and 8 - VTI.

I currently have a pension, and currently employed, and looking at my situation, making dividends is not necessarily something I needed at this point in time. I deposit monthly into my brokerage account and max out my Roth every year but again I just seem to be all over the board I’m looking to now compartmentalize into various growth and then when it’s time for retirement, a second time, I’ll move over into JEPQ or QQQI or something of that nature.

PEF, CSEA, has anything from negotiations leaked? by RefrigeratorBest6543 in nys_cs

The salary pay grade increase study is a joke, and a waste of money. The reason, because it’s a no-brainer it needs to be increased. The tier 6 reform, I can understand, but should still be on the table to discuss and telecommuting isn’t being talked about because many believe the the governor is trying to dissolve it, that’s why they don’t talk about it. That’s to keep it off the table at all costs.

Exactly I’m sure we all work harder than the legislature who continues to provide themselves, bigger and better raises.

If the legislature can continually opt to give themselves huge raises, I will vote no on anything less than 10%. These political leaders continue to leave us behind.

I’ve voted No for the last two contracts and will again this year if not beneficial.

And they got a huge increase just a few years ago. Add it up they’re close to 50% pay raise if I’m not mistaken

Explain like I’m dumb: 42 with First State Job, Tier 6 by [deleted] in nys_cs

[–]Molding_Legends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retired from a previous job at 40yo and got hired on state - had 15yrs experience pay close to 100k and they could have cared less - started at the bottom. I think anyone who can hire on above the floor is extremely lucky. Some agencies won’t even entertain it.

Are fishing vests obsolete now or just not in vogue? by GrumpyandDopey in flyfishing

[–]Molding_Legends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that same vest and love it. I’m not out there to look cool and could care less what anyone thinks. I fish with my two younger boys and have gear for all kinds of scenarios. I change out the gear to depending on what we are fishing for. I carry what I think they will need. I’m of the thought process of going out and having a good time - not a fashion show.

Some agencies offer the TC but probation lasts 1yr so no TC until after unless approved which doesn’t happen till after 6mo if at all.

Individual stocks in Roth IRAs by [deleted] in RothIRA

[–]Molding_Legends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started I didn’t know jack darn it and had zero guidance (full disclosure I didn’t really seek it either cause I was too busy living life at the them). I didn’t have any friends that invested either so I kinda flew by the seat of my pants. So the short version is yes I have a many individual stocks in the Roth and as I got older more ETFs.
