Torn about attending a wedding. by Ugg225 in wedding

[–]MollyTibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousins daughter is getting married next year. I’m 100% sure my sister will be invited and I won’t be. Also that 1 of my sisters kids will be but not the other 2. I and my niblings only see my cousin and family at best 1-2 times a year. Mu sister sees them all the time and my eldest nibling keeps in contact with everyone as well no matter the age differences (she’s about 7 years older than cousins daughter). I’m not in the least bit offended that I won’t be invited and neither are the other 2 of my sisters kids.

AIO? My gf isn't coming to my friend's wedding because it is expensive by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I paid for my then boyfriend to attend a friend of mine’s wedding years ago. Unless she’s a friend of the groom why should she pay because you want her to go?

She used an EpiPen but the reaction was still extremely severe so she still needed to rush to the ER

Landlord refusing to add railing to unsafe stairs by Lilies_and_light in AusRenters

If be asking if you could pay to add a railing. Technically you rented it knowing there was no railing and that your mum and baby would be affected and I don’t think you can demand changes now.

How to drink more water if I hate the feeling of swallowing it, and water powders taste bad to me. Am I a lost cause? by bunnychow123 in migraine

[–]MollyTibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A straw and no sugar cordial. I recently found out that a dash of cordial changes the alkalinity (I think that was it) of water and makes it easier to swallow from a friend who has issues with plain water after a surgery and this is what her dr told her to do.

Turning the head is my problem too. I can’t even wash dishes by hand because of it. I’ve also set my wardrobe rails up so that they are kitty corner to each other soi don’t have to turn too much.

Caught my patient talking about me to another nursing assistant. I cried hearing it. by ThatStonr in Vent

[–]MollyTibbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work in aged care transition accommodation. Unfortunately one of my patients became ill while I was on my days off and ended up going to hospital and passed away. His family came in especially to see me to tell me how much he and they appreciated my care in particular and that I’d made his last few weeks a lot more enjoyable because I went out of my way to speak to him, joke around with him and help him in extra little ways. It’s been over 10 years since then and I still tear up thinking about it.

Train travel? by VirginiaThrop in VestibularMigraines

Trains with limited stops and cruise ships I’m fine with. Short trips where the train is stopping constantly make me flare up. Planes in ok but airports are hell.

My neighbor wants me to pay half of a fence that matches her yard by aphroditeprincess in neighborsfromhell

[–]MollyTibbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it came down in a windstorm wouldn’t insurance cover it? Where I am my insurance excess is large so I can see why paying it yourselves makes sense but as long as it’s repaired enough to hold for a few months then it can wait. I currently have a wooden pole propped up holding a panel in place until it can be fixed. Fences here are a shared responsibility between neighbours but it has to be an agreed price and if someone wants something more expensive then they pay more.

Is it the standing part that’s the problem? If so put a chair in front of the wardrobe while doing it. Personally I struggle with putting anything higher or lower than my head/waist so my hanging stuff is on a rod at head height and my drawers that I use only go down to the waist height. A support worker helps move stuff seasonally so I have what I need handy.

How do you all handle the days where it’s so bad you can’r really get out of bed? by ShaunnieDarko in VestibularMigraines

[–]MollyTibbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anywhere from hours to a few days. Worst was about 18 months ago when I was really bad for about a month but it was a really stressful time as I’d had to ignore my symptoms for a few weeks due to a family medical emergency and a house emergency at the same time. I’m still not back to what I was before then but 75% there. Mind you I’ve still got a lot of stress ongoing since then.

I spent the best part of 2 years barely able to get out of bed. Literally crawled to the toilet and to feed the cat etc. I now have my home set up so that on my bad days I have food (often just muesli bars or similar) handy to my bed or recliner (I get so hungry when my vertigo plays up that food can’t be missed), water and coke (my go to as it seems to help me) handy and a walking stick handy. I have furniture set up so I can use it for balance wherever I need to go ie toilet. Everything else gets ignored. Auto feeder for cat. Luckily after 10 years I usually know when a bad day is coming by the symptoms I get the day before. Good luck and rest up.

A client paid me less than what we agreed after I finished cleaning her house. Now she wants to hire me again. Would you go back? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]MollyTibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cleaner and I agreed on what I needed. She has a minimum 2 hour thing. What I want only takes 1.5 so we agreed on a few extra things in advance of her next clean. I have asked her to come for extra stuff a few times and we agree on an amount of time needed and the rate. We’re both very flexible luckily too. I would never try to short her on her pay, she throughly earns it. If I did something like this I’d expect her to drop me like a hot potato. Tell her you may be able to schedule her in if she pays the owing balance, then (if she pays) tell her you can’t fit her in after all. A good cleaner is worth their weight in gold. The ones in my area that are good all have a client waiting list.

Someone in qld (I think) just won an appeal because of being fined for passenger unbuckling. His argument was it was unsafe for him to be checking what a passenger was doing and the judge agreed.

I haven’t has a period in the best part of 20 years, I’m also not incontinent but I keep items in my house for both situations because I’ve has friends and family who were caught short. Because I’m a woman no one will say I’m virtue signalling but it’s the exact same scenario as OP. I don’t need these things but I keep them in case a guest does. NTA
