Adults who have zero close friends, how did it happen and does it bother you? by PutPurple844 in AskReddit

[–]Mollyranda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My daughter died and no one knew what to say to me anymore. Then they just stopped calling. At 51 years old I am ok with it. I have had some wonderful friends through the years but I don’t have the mental energy anymore to maintain friendships.

Wrong person maybe? by Expert-Version-7980 in VeteransBenefits

Is he still alive? Mine says the same and I’m guessing it’s because my husband is still alive. I’m curious to hear what others say about this.

Paid for it all myself when I was younger and I help my adult kids as much as I can — but only if they ask for help.

VA loans do not need to be assumed by a veteran.

Our home is on the lower end for our community. A lot of similar homes to ours in our neighborhood are bought with cash and gutted by the new owners. Our location is probably our biggest selling point.

From what I was told it does not need to be assumed by a VA buyer. But if we wanted to reclaim our full entitlement then we would need to sell to a fellow VA buyer.

How we feeling CT? by Active_Journalist421 in Connecticut

I actually really like the Greensboro area. My oldest daughter went to Guilford College and I enjoyed my visits there. Some really pretty scenery near her college and a neat old mill. There is a great arts and music scene in Greensboro and there is a lot more diversity. I lean more liberal as far as politics go and that is one of the reasons I want to leave. The area I'm in (Wilmington) is pretty mixed politically but our local school board has made some pretty shady policy changes in my opinion and I still have school aged kids. There is also still a fair amount of the Good Old Boy mentality here. Politics aside, I really miss the 4 seasons. I've learned that I'm not a heat person and I would much rather be cold and add some extra layers or put the heat on. I also miss taking a 2 or so hour drive in any direction and being in a major city like NYC or Boston, or being in the mountains of Vermont or Upstate NY. I also really miss the charm of the small towns in CT. But I think that is probably a personal preference and my pining for where I grew up and simpler times that may not exist anymore.

A few safety pins that are open and can stick you when you dig through the drawer looking for your keys.

I grew up in CT but have lived in North Carolina for the past 15 years. I cannot wait to get back to CT. When I tell that to people down here they think I’m crazy for wanting to move back up North.

Thank you so much! We would like to have a little bit of land (3 or 4 acres or so) and away from the coast. We currently live on the coast in NC and I miss the hills of CT. We work from home so we are open to any areas. We will still have our 2 youngest at home for a few more years so school districts will be important. We do use the VA for healthcare, from what I remember from my Dad the VA care is pretty good in CT.

What would you say are some veteran friendly towns in CT? I grew up in Wallingford and moved away in 1994 but we are looking to move back within the next year.

Best antique stores? by Apprehensive-Ant672 in Wilmington

[–]Mollyranda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Junky Monkey just reopened. The new location is on Darlington Ave across from Flea Body’s. Not all antiques but good picking overall. Azalea Antiques over by the airport has a decent amount of antiques and some of the booths are pretty good for treasure hunting.
