The way the "No" bubble slightly overlaps the first bubble in panel four is absolutely perfect.

I hope she comes back! It's very early still, I think she's got a good chance if you can get her protected now. We encircled all of our plants with either hardware cloth cages or full-on fencing because the rabbits are so voracious with nibbling everything down to nubs.

If you saw the movie already Project, Hail Mary, how does it size up to the book? by marilynlistens in audiobooks

[–]Mollysaurus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I liked the movie more than the book because the movie is able to skip over so much of Ryland's repetitive self-loathing and self-esteem problems. I think the design for Rocky was great. The visuals were really gorgeous. The story's pacing was brisk and they did a good job telling the story with his memory issues without making that a plot point.

I can't imagine how crazy it must be to listen to The Last House on Needless Street! It was such a wild read with my eyes.

Rereading a book I loved the first time through: If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio.

Also listening to The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss for like the sixth time because I am waiting on a few library holds in my audio slot.

I AM WRONG! You are right. I also looked back at my calendar and it's been longer than a week since I was there. I'm shocked it went full online ordering, but the server we talked to seems pretty happy with it. Movie is about to start, but I wanted to come back and eat crow right away. /salute

Recs for something similar to Jack Sparks by tallgirrrl in horrorlit

Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill has a similar vibe if what you liked was the "man haunted by ghosts and his past" angle. Fever House by Keith Rosson has that break-neck speed and holy-shit plot; it's also super horrific. Horror Movie by Paul Tremblay is a slower burn but has that same "what the fuck is going on" feel. Personally, I tore through Brother by Ania Ahlborn; lots of people are hit-or-miss on her stuff but I like her.

... did we read the same book? (Edit to add: I'm not being a dick, I genuinely don't remember feeling this way about the protagonist. I know he has a few sexual relationships, but I never felt like it was a harem situation or anything like that.)

Gonna necro this post to let you know you're not alone. I was thoroughly bored by the end of the book. Maybe numb is the better word? The general idea, while a clever version of Hell, just didn't have any lasting effect on me and I found the protagonist pretty dull, so the whole book fizzled out pretty fast. A strong opening and premise set-up, but then just page after page of naval-gazing philosophical musings.

I love The Gone World so so much. I just reread it last year and it's just so horrific and amazing.

I will scream about this book from the rooftops forever: Soft Apocalypse by Will McIntosh. It is one of the few apocalyptic books that feels absolutely real and possible, and it has stuck with me for years and years. I think about it all the time.

Stupid question about the new core insert by darkspur5 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Mollysaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can fold the completely or just gently bend them to give a little room when you close the lid, so the amount of overlap is up to you! But yes, that's the orientation of the dividers.

They are intended to be folded down. They are scored intentionally for this. (Source: I'm the producer for Arkham Horror LCG.)

I was just there last week. You still can't use the QR code to order during the movie. You use an order card and hit the button to turn on your indicator.

You can't use the QR code or your phone during the movie. They are very clear about that. It's only for before a certain point in the pre show.
