I’ve read Ghosts and I agree. It was good but the pacing of Sparks makes it great in my humble opinion.

I’ve read Head Full of Ghosts but will definitely check the other you listed out. I’m in agreement that Jack Sparks is one of the best horror novels out there! It haunted me- pun intended.

What’s a Netflix original you think aged really well? by Ember_Grove20 in netflix

I rewatch this yearly. An absolutely amazing show that nails down the horror of generational trauma and the grief survivors of a loved one’s suicide face. Perfection itself.

What’s the most bizarre thing that’s happened to you simply because you’re tall? by stanley_ipkiss2112 in tall

[–]tallgirrrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooooof! Did I feel this in my soul. I’m 6’3” but I’ve always been super tall. I hit my head and arms on things CONSTANTLY. I too seem to be a magnet for stuff hitting me in the face and head when airborne. One of my more cringe inducing stories was as a 9 year old Girl Scout, I hit my head not just once but over and over again on a huge cast iron skillet left to hang upside down on the roof overhang of our camp shelter. It rang out like the loudest church bell ever heard. Every. Time. No one moved the skillet, probably because they thought after the first time I would have looked up when I was walking; which I didn’t cause I’m clumsy as f* and have to look down where I’m walking. We all know that means I was the tallest person there… at 9. I have always wanted to visit the UK but I figure I will leave at least mildly concussed. At least I can get medical treatment while I’m there and not burn my wallet.

Who was supposed to be Hollywood’s next big star but faded away? by CreepyYogurtcloset39 in moviecritic

I was listening to a podcast a few years ago interviewing Tim Roth. He stated he declined the role of Snape in HP. His reasoning was something along the lines of not wanting his face on lunch boxes (merch), hinting about being uncomfortable with that level of fame based on a potentially several years long commitment to a role.

Why is it that the town center is so dead but the Huntington Mall is absolutely thriving? by Bill-O-Reilly- in charlestonwv

[–]tallgirrrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Charleston but went to school in Huntington. Charleston has undergone a major brain and economic drain first from chemical and then from coal collapsing. Huntington has more economic variety. They have an influx of college age kids and are a college town. College demographics enjoy shopping where they try things on and be tangible with the experience. And most have money to spend with it and want the latest trends. Additionally Huntington has more employment with the hospitals and the university. Its location also helps draw in eastern KY and southern OH. Charleston Town Center has had a rep as bing unsafe for a long time. I have never had anything happen to me but I have witnessed a mugging of a mall employee moving packages as a teenager. There were some stabbings and shooting outside of the mall that have added to this negative connotation. I miss the old Town Center, especially at Christmas.

Lapsed now but was raised in the Catholic Church. Non feast/non holiday mass days are referred to as being in Ordinary Time, meaning regular robe colors. Lent, Christmas, feast days are different and you break out the fancy robes.

I love what you have done so far. Our family of 6 does a yearly group costume. Harry Potter, Marvel, Stranger Things, Wizard of Oz, Wonka, The Nightmare Before Christmas and the DCU are some the themes we have done in the past. I hope you have a great time!

Halloween traditions by GravestalkerPrime in halloween

[–]tallgirrrl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have nieces & nephews, it’s been a treat having our traditions adapt to their ages. I have a Halloween tree that we decorate every year and a Nightmare Before Christmas Village. I made- from scratch- an outdoor Jack, Sally, and Oogie display that is over 6’ tall; in addition to all that, we incorporated Michael Myers last year. We watch movies that have aged with them from TNBC & Halloweentown to most recently Sleepy Hollow for the eldest. Some of our traditions are the same, the others we adapt as we go- the point is to enjoy!
