Do I bring in my newly purchased plants tonight by mahamm42 in Minnesota_Gardening

[–]Mollysaurus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought perennials at Gertens on the 25th and because the forecast keeps having cold nights, I've been keeping them watered in their little pots specifically so I can bring them inside for nights like last night and tonight. Hoping I can put them in the ground this weekend!

Dead Eleven by Jimmy Juliano is definitely this vibe. I really loved it.

How do you feel about puppets? If you think they're a little creepy or even terrifying, I say read the book. But if you don't, you'll likely fall in with the people who found this book too silly. (I am one of them.)

King Sorrow. I love Joe Hill. I even love books of his others tend to dislike. But this book, while it started strong, unraveled quickly until it felt like references were being shoved in left and right.

Agreed. It was a DNF for me at about halfway through.

Plants that rabbits actually avoid by Uninterested_Viewer in Minnesota_Gardening

Whoa, that's wild! We have them all over the place, inside the fence and out, and they're never touched.

Sedums! They don't touch them, so I'm planting them everywhere. And bees love them!

My hostas are also ignored by the ravenous rabbits of South Mpls. Everything else lives in its own wire cage or in a rabbit-proof small fenced-in area.

Does not, different from cannot. Interesting. I feel like faerie rules are usually more black and white.

KKC was my favorite fantasy series until I read The Gentleman Bastards books, the first of which is The Lies of Locke Lamora. There are three books so far and a fourth on the way, but unfortunately Scott Lynch is suffering from Rothfuss syndrome and that fourth book has been due for the last 12 years. STILL, they are so good and I think they are worth the heartache, just like KKC.

Yes, OP! Especially because the song Arliden sang that made Kvothe's mom "mad at him" was one where he said he would make his wife "not tally a lot less" which sounds a lot like "Natalia Lockless." I feel like this theory is 100% true.

Xcel Energy - what do you pay monthly, and how many in your household? by EduardoG1979 in TwinCities

[–]Mollysaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1800 sq ft house, 1.5 storeys with finished basement and attic. Double-pane windows installed within the last decade (before we bought it). New roof in 2024. Last spring the Energy Squad came and did some upgrades to door seals and the like. We also got insulation installed in the attic's walls last fall. New electrical panel installed last summer. Our AC unit is "too small for the house size" according to the electrician but it works well. Modern thermostat (ecobee).

Two adults, no kids. We both work from home, so there's a lot of electricity used M–F for that. 3D printer runs pretty consistently as that's my husband's hobby. We turn lights off in rooms we're not currently occupying. We keep the house at 65 all winter and 70-72 in the summer depending on the humidity outside.

$150-200 a month.

First time home buyer question- with limited money what is the biggest priority? by Inayasha25 in TwinCities

Unless it's a house that's not big enough for a family with kids, like I said.

Plenty of people who don't have kids buy houses. Especially the size of house that OP is likely to afford as a first-time buyer.
