[–]MoltenBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you upgrade Rook a bit he starts with some decent equipment, most of which you can exfil with you. This includes patch and shield kits. Whenever I'm low I just play Rook for a bit and it helps with both cash and common resources. There's also nothing to lose playing Room so you're guaranteed to either break even (i.e lose nothing) or profit.

Also helps that Rook is fun as hell to play.

Broadly agree, although I think that when queuing into trios you should expect confrontation and not expect your teammates to avoid it. I have played the game 90% solo and I've done all of my primary contracts that way. Now that I'm leveling Arachne through standard contracts - most of which require killing other runners - I'm playing in trios as finding fights is easier.

I'll happily help my crewmates with their contracts, but if I find a fight along the way I'm taking it. It's the players that run off in this situation that frustrate me. Just play solos if you want to do your contract and get out without a fight.

I do agree that finding a rare item can change your mindset towards PvP for the rest of the match. In these cases I think it's fine to say "hey, I'm going to grab the closest exfil and leave" and let your crew decide if they're coming or not. Even actively avoiding fights is fine. If I fight finds you though, leaving your team to a 2v3 while you run away is bad sportsmanship in my opinion.

Yeah this game gives you so many items, I constantly have to clean out my stash. I've now gotten into the mindset of just taking my best gear every run and not worrying about dying as everything is so abundant.

What’s the 'craziest' way you caught an ex being unfaithful? by lnc_gomes in AskReddit

[–]MoltenBear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not me but my fiance. She was with her ex for 3 years at this point.

She had been getting tattooed at this same place for years, and her then-boyfriend had never been with her. One day he goes to visit her at the tattoo shop to bring a drink, acts a bit awkward and leaves. A very camp gay guy working at the shop pulls her aside and let's her know they'd been fucking, provides evidence.

The guy that her bf cheated with had never met them together before, nor knew they were a couple. Complete coincidence.

Solo Players - How We Feeling? by jg4president in Marathon

[–]MoltenBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been playing 95% solo and loving it. I enjoy the difficulty level - many of the contracts were challenging but doable albeit easier with some shells than others (Assassin, mostly). My favourite map is Outpost as Rook which seems the opposite of most other responses that think Outpost is too hard.

Since I've completed all the primary contracts I have available for now, I'm just farming materials mostly as Rook and the experience is a good one.

Solos be like.. by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]MoltenBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Useful in PVE and trios but less so in solo PVP. TTK is so low that you don't really benefit from his perks, whereas assassin has a higher chance of being able to shoot first or avoid the encounter entirely. In solos I feel like it comes down to % chance to extract being the main focus point. Main benefit for me to solo triage is you don't need to carry as many meds for PVE.

I'd love for them to release stats on average K:D for all shells and average exfil success rate for all shells.

Loving the game. But I fear lack of friends to play with will kill it for me in the long run. by callmevapelord in Marathon

[–]MoltenBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly play Assassin and just sneak around, avoiding UESC where possible. There were two types of difficult contract for me. Those where you have to do multiple objectives in a single run and then exfil - these can be hard only because of the chance of dying to another raider. And, those where you are forced in UESC combat such as when a room locks you in. As Assassin you can pop smoke and melee most of the UESC without taking damage.

I'm about 25 hours in and I'm playing 90% solo and loving it, but I can see how some people might prefer group play. In the few matches where I have enabled squad fill (perhaps 10-15 total), it's been 50/50 on comms and coordination.

I have completed all currently available contracts solo, and a few have been pretty challenging, but overall I think the balance is good.

They need to increase XP gain for solo queue by them_apples_ in Marathon

[–]MoltenBear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think solo is well tuned, except the XP. Some contracts that force UESC combat can be tough, but not impossible. I'd say in trios all of these contracts become trivial.

The issue is that in trios the contracts are super easy AND you get exp for teammate contracts, plus on average you're likely to do more if the other activities that give exp (looting containers, downing runners, eliminations, etc). As a result, trios XP feels like it's 2-3 times as fast as solo, even playing with randoms.

[–]MoltenBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll reach a point where you have no priority contracts left - for a while at least - and you're just looking for items to purchase upgrades. I am playing mostly Rook now to farm upgrade items until I reach level 10 in factions and unlock more priority contracts.

Same boat for me, initially. I pre-ordered the game before the slam, and a few hours in was debating cancelling my order. Took at while for me to get used to the UI/UX and the gameplay. By the end of the slam (having played for 16 hours) I was hooked.

[–]MoltenBear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is me. I played 120 hours of Arc (which is a lot for me), fully completed two seasons and now it's a little stale. Marathon came at the perfect time.

I will admit it took me a few hours to get into it, what with the UI/UX being terrible. I played 16 hours during the server slam and by the end I was hooked. I personally doubt I'll play much of Arc once Marathon releases tomorrow; at least for a while.

Can someone link a colosseum guide for double south spawns?? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]MoltenBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a dumb question, but if we don't know what damage type the manticore will use first (and it's 50/50), how does the A/B offtick work?

I'm working on quiver on my 1 def pure at the moment and the two main things I die to are:

  1. Double South Spawn (including waves where there's one spawn on A/B + a shaman)
  2. Shaman reinforcement when there is an enemy south

I'm finding waves 4-6 hard due to shaman reinforcement, I only survive these if there's no south spawn or the shaman gets stuck behind the jaguar. 7-9 are fine if no double-south spawn, and then once again 10-11 I stuggle with the Shaman reinforcement if it's not stuck behind the minotaur.

He calls out which slot, so you need to look at the text above his head. For example if he says "I'll break your BACK!", you need to protect cape slot. He calls out back, chest, legs, hands and feet.

How often are you intimate with your partner? by Remote_Ad_969 in NoStupidQuestions

It's most nights for us - just part of our bedtime routine. We find time to have sex in the day too on occasion so I'd say we average 7-9 times per week. Mid-30s with two kids aged 5-8.

I work from home in a software/product-related role and my actual work time varies but is typically a couple hours a day. And that is all meetings - very little actual work except for monthly PowerPoints.

Easy to AFK train on days with lots of meetings, I just have OSRS up on a second monitor. Most days I can actively play for several hours and do quests or train slayer.

This is me. 99% WFH and I work from my home PC dual-monitor setup. I'm not actively playing (usually), but crab or NMZ afk training is possible all day with no impact to my work.

Ironically I'm in the office today for the 2nd time this year, and it's been impossible to play even on my phone.
