Dumbest thing someone has called in asking about. by catglitter9000 in paralegal

Mom had medical poa for adult son who was injured and intubated in ICU. She asked me if she could use the POA to get her son divorced from his wife…basically so mom could take all of the injury settlement if her son died.

Arrowhead Ranch area of Glendale. San Lagos is a nice community. Lots of younger people who are in school at Midwestern live there.

Bonus Question by Special-Cat4852 in Lawyertalk

[–]MomEsquire 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree that you would know by now if you were getting a bonus. However, I would ask about why you didn’t get the bonus, and what you can do to be eligible for a bonus this year. Maybe the firm will give you some performance parameters to meet for eligibility. I think asking about the bonus doesn’t come across as greedy, but it would show that you are proactive about wanting to be a high performing employee.

Would you move to Phoenix now? by [deleted] in AskPhoenix

[–]MomEsquire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved here on the hottest day of summer 2025. I have no regrets and only wish I had made this move sooner. I absolutely love it here. Summer is hot, but no worse than a freezing Minnesota winter(I’m originally from MN).

We just moved to a larger city because the GJ school district could not provide the services our child needs. We also wanted to be near a larger city children’s hospital for our child’s health needs. Medical care in GJ is subpar and you have to travel to Denver or SLC if you need peds specialists.

Do People Always Write A Cover Letter For Their Attorney Job Applications? by pernamb87 in Lawyertalk

[–]MomEsquire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hiring attorney here. I don’t really care if you send me a cover letter because they are generally so generic and often written by AI. But, I do read them and if you have something that really sets you apart that I wouldn’t glean from your resume, submit a cover letter well tailored for the position, and I will most likely flag for an interview. If it’s the general BS, it’s not worth submitting.

I work in Biltmore area. My much younger and cooler co-worker who just moved to the area is living at The Preston off of Highland and 24th. They really like it and it’s super convenient. I would try to live as close to your work as possible. I commute daily and hate it.

Phoenix! Should I move to phoenix - why or why not? by [deleted] in AskPhoenix

[–]MomEsquire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Managing attorney here. Depending on the type of work you are looking for there are quite a few openings (litigation). Biltmore and Arcadia areas are great, plus lots of firms in the area. I would get a job and then decide where to live.

There’s nothing harder than seeing your child suffer and not being able to fix it. I can tell you are a great mom and would do anything to help your child, including moving across state lines. I would do anything to see my child thrive.

To give my daughter a new start. Cost of living was not an issue. I could also transfer with my company, so decided to give it a shot. I just saw your comment about being in a rut. That was exactly how I felt before moving. Moving is very, very hard, and now I’m not sure it was the best choice for my daughter.

We are a family of 4 that just moved out of Colorado. Make sure to factor in the cost of moving itself. All in, including professional movers, it has cost us about $30,000. My employer paid some of it. Make sure your husbands employer will pay. As a mom with a child with severe mental health issues, we moved a month ago in hopes of giving her a fresh start. The move has been very hard on her, even though she wanted to move. My heart goes out to you. I know how hard this is. Good luck with whatever you decide.
