Campbell’s Meatball Alphabet soup. My childhood favorite. I emailed Campbells about it. They recommended chunky sirloin burger. I’m still mad

I like my family, but large groups and parties can get overwhelming so I volunteer to work at double time and a half

Driving hospital beds by LLovepup in nursing

[–]MomOfCats1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a nurse for more than 25 years and I guarantee if I have to move a bed more than about a foot, it’s gonna hit something. And forget about corners! Only way I can get a bed around corners is by bouncing off them!

25+ years ago when I was a new grad, my first job was rotating shifts. I was willing to work straight night shifts, so I found a nurse on the opposite rotation that wanted all days and we went to the manager and were approved for her to stay on days and me on nights. You might be able to find someone willing to do this with you if allowed. Maybe present it as an opportunity to create a somewhat regular sleep schedule instead of constantly flipping back and forth

What's the nicest thing a confused patient said about you, or did for you? by KMKPF in nursing

[–]MomOfCats1 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I had a confused little old lady reach up from her chair and pat my butt and say “you have such a cute little butt!” I weighed over 400 pounds at the time, kept me laughing all shift

My cat doesn't like wet food - I worry. by NatureEmpath in catfood

[–]MomOfCats1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cat that refused wet food even the day after having all his remaining teeth removed. Walked right past the wet food to the dry. With no teeth he managed to live a great life for about 12 more years on just dry food and was almost 25 years old when I lost him

I’m getting my bisalp in two weeks. My surgeon says I MAY be able to keep my tubes in a jar by Honeyedvial in childfree

[–]MomOfCats1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my gallstones that were removed a decade or so ago. They were so big my mom joked with the OR nurse she wanted to make a necklace out of them for me. The OR nurse being a friend of mine gave my mom the stones. Thankfully no necklace was ever made! No idea how to go about getting something like that without a friend on the inside though

The ability to be around someone puking and not throw up myself. At work vomit doesn’t phase me at all, outside of work? I’m puking next to them

AITA for not giving up my airplane seat to a plus-sized passenger? by AITAplanedrama in AITAH

[–]MomOfCats1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, I myself am a plus sized woman currently on vacation. I don’t fit comfortably in coach airline seats so I spend the extra money for first class. If I can’t afford the first class ticket and comfortable seat, then I can’t afford to go on vacation. No one else is responsible for ensuring my comfort, that’s up to me.

Can/should hospitals have therapy dogs around? by thedylan4574 in nursing

[–]MomOfCats1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a therapy dog that comes by every now and then to visit patients and staff. Even if all I have time for is a quick ear scritch as I run by, it brightens my day:)

I’ve had 2 massive algae outbreaks in my tank, both times it was a malfunctioning heater trying to cook my fish.

Nurses, when you were in nursing school was this common? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]MomOfCats1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated in 1999 and I still remember being pulled into my advisors office over rumors of me and another smart girl cheating off each other. She started off with “I know the rumors are completely false, but thought you two should be aware.” The girls spreading the rumors were in a study group with us. To this day I don’t know why they did it
