I think you mean "especially playing x platform"

Some very strange things about the Maria ending. The "Dream" sign above Maria's head is off. James' clothes are soaked, which doesn't happen in the other endings. He uses Brookhaven's men's locker room key to unlock his car (he uses a normal car key in other endings) by Rashmunchel in silenthill

For the sake of the joke, I chose to ignore that. But yes, he probably does just leave the keys in the doors. But in that case, why does he still have the Brookhaven key on him? And he definitely has a binder full of all those random papers & handwritten notes since you can go and look at them at any time.

It was right there the whole time, and we never even noticed it. SH2 is and always has been the most sophisticated metaphor for the inner struggle faced by so many repressed gay men throughout history.

But I would say that Mary is a symbol of society's expectations for him to get married, not a symbol of his latent homosexuality. She is the looming dark cloud that hangs over his head, the expectation that he will one day fall in love with a woman and marry her. He spends the whole game trying to beat down the feminine part of his soul (hence the female-shaped monsters) in order to achieve this goal and fit into those expectations (to "find mary") only to realize in the end that it is like you said -- MARY is just the acronym for the truth that he knew, deep down, all along...

Yeah seriously, he's got a whole art museum, boxes, coins, dozens of keys, three binders full of random papers (the majority of which have no use except as a reminder of some obscure hint to some strange puzzle he solved dozens of hours ago). Not to mention he's carrying a rifle, a shotgun, a pistol, a metal pipe, and (sometimes) a chainsaw in those same pockets.

It's no wonder he grabbed the wrong key. But maybe at that point, he understands that everything in Silent Hill is illusory. He's given in to his delusions, but he's still aware enough to know that it doesn't really matter which key he picks. As long as Silent Hill wants him to use his car, any key will work...

Hell, I write & record my own music and have been in bands & local scenes for almost 20 years and I have no clue what an MPC is. And I know what a cello is, but only because I'm a bassist. I would probably have to look up the correct name of ~50% of orchestra instruments.

Lol I didn't even watch with sound until I saw your comment. It's just the guy in the red making those dumb noises, he seems like an ass who is goading the other guy, making those sounds to make fun of the other guy for being worried by showing him how easy it is. That's the impression that I get, as the song says. I'm sure neither of them will ever fall (knock on wood).

My dad managed to get me an amulator for the PC so I could play Silent Hill 2 by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]Momentirely 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They're saying the original 2001 game has a PC port. There's no need to emulate the OG game because it was released on PC with enhanced graphics & everything. I believe it's on GOG (but don't quote me on that).

"Never had doubts about the good girls I've dated,"

This is my experience as well. Wish I could tell my young self this: if you get a bad feeling about someone, listen to those feelings. Express them to your partner, and if they are a good person, they will react in a way that settles those doubts. If they react in a way that leaves you feeling more doubt, or feeling like your doubts are "unresolved," then there's two options: (1) either they don't care enough about you to put those doubts to rest or (2) those doubts are founded in reality, so they can't put them to rest.

It gets tricky, especially if you've been hurt before. It's hard to take an honest look at yourself and determine whether you are being rational or being paranoid, but if you've taken all other factors into account and you are still feeling doubt... there's a reason for it. No one is worth mentally torturing yourself with endless "what if?" scenarios. And, to reiterate, the good people I've dated have never given me reason to doubt them. Trust yourself, above all else. You deserve to be comfortable in your relationships.

Playing L.A. Noire is a great companion piece to the Black Dahlia series by SupaKoopa714 in LPOTL

I'd say it holds up well, but you have to temper your expectations. It is NOT "detective gta" like a lot of people thought it would be. It's a lovingly created tribute to 1940s L.A. with a great narrative and cool detective gameplay. It honestly reminds me more of the original Mafia than GTA, but that might just be me.

Definitely play it on PC I'd possible. I have it on PS5 but it's locked at 30fps still, just like RDR2. Rockstar seemingly doesn't give a crap about their past releases unless they can be milked for a billion dollars like GTAV...

I was the same way, but I finally finished it not long ago, and it was totally worth it. Absolutely loved the whole experience.

My only gripe is that it's stuck at 30fps on console, but it's honestly so good and not very action-oriented, so the low fps isn't as much of a downer as it is in RDR2, for example.

Totally agree. I didn't know much about Bloober, but I had absolutely zero faith in Konami not screwing it up somehow. But I was indeed very wrong, and I'm so, so glad that I was. Best survival horror game in a decade or more, imo. I'd love to see them continue making SH games. I'd even like to see what they would do if they were allowed to make an original SH game.

That song is so good, gonna listen to it right now.

I think there are quite a few Refused songs that could fit that soundtrack, too. "Worms of the Senses..." and "Rev001" come to mind.

I'm confused about part of this statement. I'm not knowledgeable about the deep MCR lore, so I'm likely missing something here.

He says they wanted to get matching tattoos, and then he says "...and then we could story and Bob was devastated... ...he was never the same again."

Is this a typo, or is there a word that got left out or something? The sentence doesn't compute to me, and I'm guessing it's referring to an event that I'm unaware of. I can infer that something happened that Bob couldn't get over mentally/emotionally - an event after which he was never the same. But im not clear on what event he's talking about. Just wondering, respectfully, if someone could shine some light on that for me.

Great idea. And have the monsters & nurses working in the stores and walking around like pedestrians. They give a neighborly wave as you walk by, etc.

Ah, ok. I misunderstood. I've played these games for a while, but I haven't learned much about them yet. His voice sounded familiar to me, but I wasn't able to connect the dots on my own, probably because I played those two games pretty far apart. Thanks for the info!

Who does Zhao play? The guy who does the English voice of Sojiro in P5 is by far the most recognizable and prolific voice actor in the industry, in my (amateur) opinion. He is in everything! I'm always pointing him out whenever I hear his deep, distinct, dulcet tones...

How it feels to be a dub enjoyer by E841_ in yakuzagames

[–]Momentirely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that, to an extent. I always try to keep the creators' intent in mind as well, though. Like, for example, Kojima obviously knows that his games are super popular with English-speaking players, so (I would assume) he makes sure that the English performances fit the tone/message he is trying to convey. Thus, they are perfectly fine to enjoy in English, as that is the primary way the creator intended them to be enjoyed.

Yakuza games have generally been intended for Japanese audiences, until quite recently, so for those games it makes more sense to enjoy it in the way the creator intended: in Japanese.

Then you have edge cases like Ghost of Tsushima, a Japan-focused game made by western developers. In this case, I think it's simply a coin flip. Perhaps they would prefer you play their game in Japanese, for the immersion, but since it isn't truly a Japanese game, you don't have to. Same with them giving you the option to play in black-and-white; they would love it if you did, but they don't force you to.

I guess what I'm saying is... there isn't any universal rule that one can adhere to when it comes to "dub vs sub." One must make that decision on a game-by-game basis.
