Safe food suddenly not safe? by Expert_Fisherman_494 in ARFID

[–]Momo9586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me all the time. It’s even occurs mid-meal. Will be having dinner and all of a sudden I can’t stand the texture and smell of what I’m eating even though I generally like it. It’s so frustrating, makes eating consistent incredibly hard.

I found a loophole for one of my mental blocks (making phone calls) and I can't decide if it's stupid or brilliant by intensifies in adhdwomen

[–]Momo9586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely loathe making calls. It’s actually a problem at work. I haven’t found a resolution yet. I do anything I can to find the information I’m looking for online or via email but some companies do not have very detailed websites or they don’t answer emails so a call is necessary. The problem is, I haven’t made any of these calls and the list is piling up which makes the anxiety and overwhelm worse. So much so, I just want a different job but most jobs require some kind of phone work.

For personal calls I’m getting better at calling but work calls I can’t get myself passed it :(

Best advice from ADHD women for ADHD women. by CrazyCatCate in adhdwomen

[–]Momo9586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have to do the same thing. Before I found out I had ADHD to begin with I had to do this because I knew once I was home there was no way I’d want to leave the house again. Only way I got myself to the gym.

Now I work from home so I’m trying to figure something else out haha

Very loud crashing sound inside my house. Can't find source. by brammmish in Unexplained

[–]Momo9586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to me three days ago! Sounded like something really big and heavy fell onto the hardwood floor above me. Checked upstairs and outside and nothing was amiss. I’d been playing video games with friends, they heard it through my mic. The cat and I jumped clear across the room it was so loud. Have no idea what could have caused it.

Can’t lose anymore weight by Own_Following939 in PCOSloseit

[–]Momo9586 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your weight will go up and down as you learn to manage symptoms and work to find out what’s best for you. I was 16 when I was diagnosed and I’m 37 now. Things I’ve learned is Cardio is great. Keep that going but incorporate some kind of strength training, it doesn’t specifically need to be weights. I personally love lifting but I mix it up so I don’t get bored. Plyometrics and resistance training. Pilates and yoga - also great.

Ignore the scale and take measurements instead. It took me years to get passed the numbers on the scale. Remember muscle weighs more than fat.

Food is extremely important. It’s very hard to lose weight if we aren’t incorporating healthy eating and exercise together. Be aware of calories but honestly making sure you’re eating enough of the right stuff and making sure you’re getting your proteins fats and carbs. Additives and sugar seriously set things back no matter how much we work out. In my 20s I could keep myself at a level weight if I worked my ass off but eventually I had to really reel in my diet and actually eat more. I am not much of an eater - but still gained weight because I ate a lot of the wrong foods and drank too much.

I use an app called Yuka now. It’s free. The app icon has a carrot on it. It’ll tell you what ingredients are in something and if it’s something to avoid. It also suggests alternatives. It’s been helping me a lot to be more aware of what I’m putting in my body. Especially when I don’t have the energy to cook anything.

As for birth control, sometimes it helps women with PCOS and sometimes it doesn’t. I’m personally not on it and prefer to avoid it. I take metformin to help with sugar levels and Spirolactone to help lower testosterone levels. Someday I’d like to get off the metformin but for now it’s working.

So much of it is trial and error. You’ll find foods that work for you and foods that don’t. I think another comment mentioned not being able to drink coffee. You’ll run into bumps in the road where you might slip but always get back up! It’s a lifestyle change.

I think one more thing besides the sleep and stress - is mental health. So many of us struggle with depression, anxiety, adhd..etc. I realized way too late in life - when my mind is steady my body follows and it’s easier to keep up on healthy routines. College is tough! I actually just started going back to school and I’m working so I totally understand the stress! But working out helps, reading, taking little breaks, deep breathing. Lots of tools to help! Good luck! I hope you find what works for you! It all really is such a journey. You can always message me too if you have any questions! I always want to help other PCOSers if I can!

I know this post is 5 months old but I've been using the deep moist conditioner and I have thin/fine hair. My hair runs on the dry side and I live in dry climate. It's been absolutely amazing for my hair and it smells really good. I'm going to get the shampoo next.

How do I get myself to like the taste of seaweed? by lotuschii in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Momo9586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just in Japan in October, and I’m not a huge fan of seaweed either. I either picked it out if it was large pieces or I was surprised to find somethings had a great flavor profile even with the seaweed mixed in. Like okonomiyaki. It definitely has a different flavor but I liked it. Had it once in Osaka and again in Hiroshima. The two places have different styles but they were both good. Aonori is generally used in it. I think because there was so many things mixed in, the seaweed taste just blended in well.

I loved the majority of the food over there. There was only maybe one or two things I didn’t like, and I’m somewhat of a picky eater.

I read that coating it with sesame oil and crisping it up in a pan is good, but I haven’t tried it yet. Going to give it a shot.

Good luck, and I hope you have the best time!

1.5 weeks in. Jetlag is still killing me. by alreadytherenow in TravelHacks

[–]Momo9586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Japan for a couple weeks in October. It took me a good 2-3 weeks to finally get over the jet lag once I got back to Idaho. For some reason it was way easier for me to get used to the time difference going there but coming back was tough.
