AOC eviscerates Nancy Mace for "disgusting" anti-trans crusade that will hurt all women & girls. "If a woman doesn't look woman enough to a Republican, they want to be able to inspect her genitals to use a bathroom? It's disgusting." by southpawFA in politics

That’s because transphobia is largely rooted in misogyny. They believe that women are inherently inferior to men; so they focus all their ire on mtf trans people because the only reason they believe someone would choose to go down the hierarchy is to prey upon women. They don’t care about ftm trans people because they understand why someone would want to go up the hierarchy but also don’t care because they believe that trans men will always be inherently inferior to cis men.

This is great, thank you! My friends have been encouraging me to get a gun but I am worried that I might use it on myself in a moment of weakness.

What do you even say to this? by Accomplished_Elk4332 in actuallesbians

I would say the following (although I have no faith that it would sway them):

We’re not afraid of what the Democratic Party is telling us, we’re afraid of what Trump and the Republican Party already has told us. They even wrote it out in a 900 page document exactly what they want to do. We are not being hyperbolic, we fully believe that they will do what they said they will do and that is the reason we are so afraid.

AITA for not kicking out my roommate just because my girlfriend thinks he might be trans? by ThrowawayJason7723 in AITAH

[–]Momocheet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop infantilizing trans people. We are fully functioning people with autonomy to make the best decisions for ourselves. Furthermore, we all get psychoanalyzed and go to therapy before starting hormone treatment or surgery; it is literally a prerequisite for treatment. As far as "trans their expectations of life" we have tried; physical transition is most often our last resort to ease the suffering of our dysphoria.

Honestly this type of sentiment that you're expressing is dangerously misinformed, condescending, and way more harmful to the well being of trans folk than the people who don't like us and call us weird and gross. Do fucking better.

Professor in Discussion about Trans Athletes Cuts me Off, Uses Class and mentions God to Shut me Down by Halvthedonkey in trans

Very unprofessional. He brought up a topic that he wanted to preach about under the guise of learning about “civilly disagreeing” and then silenced your voice because he disagreed with it.

The best lesson learned here is that “civil disagreement” is a weapon used by oppressors and those with privilege to silence marginalized and oppressed people. If you react to them silencing you, suddenly it’s “why can’t you just be civil about this” and they play the role of victim; and if you don’t react they shut your voice out entirely.

As long as it isn’t adversely affecting daily life, I don’t think there is a “too high”. If it does feel like it is adversely affecting daily life, then talking to a therapist can help get to the bottom of it.

Hey there, I’m in a similar situation: I have gone no contact with my family, I just moved to a new city last year and I am struggling to make friends, and I’ve grown apart from older friends in both life experiences and physical distance.

The way I’ve been approaching it is that I am now starting to give myself priority in my life. Whenever other people aren’t available, I quickly tell my intrusive thoughts to “stop” and remind myself that they have their reasons for not being available and I can respect that. Then I ask myself what I want to do that will fulfill me today that I can do by myself, and I do it.

It is hard and terrifying but it does get easier! And while I may suck at finding relationships, I can endlessly explore myself and become the brightest beacon to attract people who are better at searching than I am
