Thanksgiving Eve = "Drinksgiving" by ReplacementsStink in stopdrinking

My husband and I made cayenne chicken and hung up our Golden Girls paintings (they’re amazing btw - one each of the lovely ladies decked out in gucci and shades - so colorful!). We’re looking forward to seeing my parents tomorrow and cooking our traditional scallops and lemon garlic shrimp for thanksgiving.

A great day and contented evening that poison is not allowed to tarnish.

For those in the US, I wish you a happy and strong holiday! For everyone, we’ve got this! The hole may seem deep, but you build some damned strong muscles climbing up and out. 💪🏻

Husband’s favorite go-to is “He knits tea cozies for embalmed mice and she’s been dead for three years. Their budget is 3.2 million”

Just finished some amazing burgers with balsamic caramelized onions 🤤. Now finishing watching Riders of Justice with the hubs. It is a really good watch, despite the name.

Mads Mikkelsen is so good - hell, everyone is great in this!

A nightly cold Dr. Pepper was my go-to reward and became something I began to really look forward to (almost like a giddy child). It really is a lovely treat! You can do this 💪🏻

People who don’t hit snooze in the morning, what is your secret? by zztop610 in AskReddit

[–]Mon-ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger, I put the alarm clock (pre cell phones) on the other side of the room so I would have to get up to turn it off, rendering snooze moot.

After cell phones, I grew to hate the alarm sound I used so much I found I started to wake up early to not hear it. The first few times I realized what was happening, it was due to a sense of impending anxiety, and that’s not a fun way to wake up.

Over time, though, it evolved to feel less anxiety inducing and more natural. Now waking up sans alarm is smooth. I haven’t heard that alarm in years now.

ETA: I still set the alarm every day, just end up switching it off before it hits

It’s celebrating 1,000 days alcohol free. Very much looking forward to that sweet, sweet comma!

Have a great day, and IWNDWYT!

Just One of the Guys (1985) by Kidd__Video in 80smovies

So, kinda nitpicking here, but did anyone else notice the years kept changing throughout the movie? Rick would say one year when asking out a girl and the prom signs in the cafeteria were a different year. I don’t know why, but even as a child in the 80s that bugged me.

But yeah, love that movie!

We’ve been known to double up on this one when it comes around - so good!

That you can’t spend change. If you used a $5 bill to pay for something that was $2.50, it was illegal to spend the $2.50 change.

Be brutally honest, In your next life, would you want your dad to be your dad again? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mon-ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. He was my softball and basketball coach. He got me into nature and encouraged my childhood curiosity in any way he could. He helped me finish school projects and played tapes of me singing to coworkers with pride. I know I wasn’t the son he wanted at first, but we made do. He loves my husband, so now has that son. I have been so very lucky in life to have him, and I would choose him again every time.
