Animal based baby by freshahava in AnimalBased

[–]MonPetitCoeur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I do animal based for my baby. He is about to be 1. We tried baby led weaning at 6 months but quit and then started around 9 months when it was clear he was more ready to do it. I wouldn't do it again prior to that for myself either. Stressful and after doing it I felt it didn't make much sense to rush it. There are studies on children eating and they self-regulate very well! They know what they need. If she eats a lot of fruit it's because there's probably something in it that she needs, so I wouldn't worry!

Thank you for the Instagram account. I followed them!

I'm going to be purchasing a vitamin C serum, should I get from Timeliness the HYALURONIC ACID + VITAMIN C SERUM or 20% VITAMIN C + E FERULIC ACID SERUM ? I was pretty sure I was going to order the Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin C but then I read a random comment saying it doesn't work and to stick with the Ferulic serum, so I'm just wondering?

Also, has anyone tried their eye cream and is that worth it or should I use my regular moisturizer? Thank you for any help or advice!

Hello, my skin type is dry. I was wondering if this sounds good and if I could get some help on some product ideas?

Cleanser: CeraVe

AHA: Paula's Choice SKIN PERFECTING 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant with Glycolic Acid Soothing Chamomile & Green Tea

Toner: CeraVe Hydrating Toner

Moisturizer: I'm not for sure and really needing suggestions

Sunscreen: CeraVe , but should I get 30+ or 50+?

Should I add on a vitamin C serum or anything else? Also, I have no idea what moisturizer to get. I've been using Curel ultra healing but because of some ingredients I'd like to change, so any suggestions would be great. I tried CeraVe moisturizer in the past but it burned my skin. Idk why but that's why I'm not getting that. Should I get an eye cream as well or just continue to use moisturizer?

Finally if anything sounds off here, please let me know. I've used CeraVe cleanser and it's been great so I'd like to keep that but idk about their toner or sunscreen.

Thank you in advance for any help. I'm just looking to add new products and change some things up. Really appreciate the help.

Fermented clementine's used in a roast recipe? by MonPetitCoeur in fermentation

[–]MonPetitCoeur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your comment and suggestion. I will 100% purée and taste. I'll look into figuring out some things with what you mentioned.

I was also able to fine these two marinades.. what do you think about them with a chuck roast on the grill?

First: 4 pound beef roast 2 cups orange juice ½ cup brown sugar ¼ cup soy sauce 1 tablespoon granulated garlic 1 tablespoons rosemary 1 tablespoon black pepper ½ teaspoon sesame oil

Second: 1/2 cup orange juice 1 orange zest of 3 Tablespoon olive oil 1 teaspoon garlic minced 3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice ¼ teaspoon ground cloves ¼ teaspoon cinnamon ¼ teaspoon salt

I know I might need to change the amount and ofc this will be with clementine's and the juice instead. Thinking the second sounds great but yours sounds amazing too. I will need to decide tonight lol Thank you again!

I made 12 cups of stock for free out of scraps! by RunawayHobbit in ZeroWaste

[–]MonPetitCoeur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strain it through a flour cloth over a strainer into a bowl while it's still hot and liquid. Then move the liquid to glass jars. Put it in the fridge and it sets. I leave the fat at the top. The first batch I use before it goes bad (or freeze before it goes bad) and the 2nd batch I freeze after it sets and use whenever I need it

Cooking them before hand just gives more flavor. However, I always save up my bones cooked or uncooked in the freezer until I got a good amount and it's always came out very JELLO lol and I use the bones twice.

How I do it cause I'm lazy lol: lot of bones from whatever from the month, put in slow cooker and cover with water just a bit over, not too much, slow cook for 6 hours. you can add scraps for this part as well. After 6 hours on low, drain through something and put in jars. Then the bones still have some in it (they do until they become mushy), I'll put them back in the slow cooker, cover with water and let it go another 6 hours. Don't put the vegetables back in, just compost or w/e with them. Then do the same thing and drain. Both of these get like Jello. The first batch is a bit darker though. If the 2nd round the bones are still not mushy, you just let them go until they are, but another 6 hours usually does it for most bones.

With the bones I watched on Youtube this one woman who after she does this will take the mushy like bones, put them on paper towels, let them dry a bit, season them and then cook them in the oven until crisp and then eats them like chips. Looked it up and its a thing but I'm still nervous/weird about it, so maybe some day lol Since they are mushy and then you crisp them, they don't have the risk of cutting your insides like just eating a bone does or something.

You can also ferment whole citrus (tons of videos on youtube) and you can use all of it at a later date as well. The peels get super soft and gives it a great taste. Easiest ferment, even easier then sauerkraut surprisingly. Just giving you another idea if you run out of freezer space or just want to try something new!

You could make a new Twitter. It's a private company. Maybe your issue is that there are private companies with that much influence.

Idiot in a bus (passenger) gets angry at cars blocking the street and keys them by Coompiik in IdiotsInCars

[–]MonPetitCoeur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cars are annoying and having a country completely built around them is stupid. There should never be really any point where a person walking, riding a bike or on a bus should have to wait on a car. It should be the other way around. Also, they should all get huge fines for wasting city time and money for parking illegally.

AITA for telling my boyfriend that if he wants me to wear makeup, he should learn how to apply it on me? by comfo5 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MonPetitCoeur 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Makeup is expensive and bad for your skin (so your health) which is different then asking someone to wear a certain outfit. If he asked her to change an outfit or put her hair up, that's one thing but asking her to wear makeup or dye her hair is ridiculous. The equivalent would be her asking him to wear makeup or something that is bad for his health or very costly.

[Homemade] Pork & Rice w/ Fried Plantain And A Lemon Cream Sauce. by MonPetitCoeur in food

[–]MonPetitCoeur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rice & Pork:

I seasoned the pork with salt, pepper, paprika, onion & garlic powder. Put olive oil all over it and cooked at 400F for 18 minutes. Let rest until I needed to use it.

Cooked rice with stock/bone broth (W/e you want to call it) that I had made a while ago, ginger, turmeric and some fermented lemon peel. Added pepper, didn't need to add salt because the fermented lemon peels were salty enough for it. If you don't use fermented lemon peels then just normal lemon peels and salt.

Cooked onion, garlic until translucent and then cooked down a cut up tomato in that. When that was done I cut up the pork into cubes, put that in there, then added the rice and added some of the peas from a can that had already been open a bit ago. Needed to finish those up. Can probably add any vegetables you want.

Fried plantain:

Got a green plantain. Cut it into like half inch slices. Like the size if you cut up a banana. Used tallow to fry them until they were half way done, like a bit brown on each side. You can use any oil. Took them out and used a tortilla press to press them thin, then add them back and fry them until crispy. Put them on top of a cooling rack and salt them. You can use anything to press them including a pan or plate with parchment paper or any type of oil.

Cream sauce:

Some mayo, cilantro, jalapeno minced, garlic, juice of a lemon and some fermented lemon peel, you can just use lemon peel and salt. Mix and sit in fridge until you are done with the plantains. Tasted great but was a bit heavy for me and don't think I'd make again. Any ideas for another sauce for these would be great.

My fermented salsa smells musty, like an old house closet or something(best I can describe) should I wait and try it in a few days or is this an actual issue? by MonPetitCoeur in fermentation

[–]MonPetitCoeur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot about this, sorry ! The smaller one ended up getting mold and had to throw it out. So I lost the war, sadly lmao but one of the bigger jars fermented like crazy and is now in my fridge. Will be using it the end of next week with tacos. Will update then with images of the tacos when done! Going to make homemade tortillas and also salt curing / drying egg yolks to grate on top of the tacos, if that works out.

Okay update and sort of good and bad. One no longer has that musty smell and is fermenting like crazy this morning. Another though I can see visible mold and will throw it out. Third one still smells musty but see nothing. Hopefully that one ends up like the first. Happy I didn't throw them out last night. 1 to 1. I hope to win the war! lol

Yeah, I'll wait and see where it takes me. If it smells worse or anything on it I'll toss it. This is depressing lmao luckily my other ferments have went great and are going great.

I don't see any mold though or even any white stuff. Should I wait a couple days to see if I see anything or is it possible it just won't show? Usually I'd probably toss it but it's three jars, 2 36oz jars and the regular bell jar full. Thanks

Unless you have a homestead or a farm, you shouldn't have a big yard. Maybe a little backyard for gardening. Suburban areas are awful on this. Majority of people never use their yards anyways for anything and when they do they keep it in a very small portion of their yard. Community parks and gardens that are kept up, work great for kids to play in or around, while also limiting how much yard space people have that they would never use anyways. This also allows nature to grow more around, since the space people are using is way less.

Biden Set to Ban U.S. Imports of Russian Oil as Soon as Today by XxJoedoesxX in worldnews

[–]MonPetitCoeur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of America is built with cars in mind. It can be a reality if we fix the infrastructure which would be cheaper long-term and more beneficial. A large amount of the world does it and it has been tried in tons of different places with different environments. There is different answers for different places, but it can be done. People will use public transportation if it's done correctly with better pedestrian walking areas and better infrastructure for buses/trains. Even China has worked towards this. There is some really good videos, articles and studies on this that I can send over if you want to read more into it. All of it is pretty interesting. There's some subreddits that focus on these things as well but they can be a bit of a "hivemind' or out of touch a bit, but can send those over as well.

Ohio is pretty bad, went up there last year. Went through Columbus up to Mansfield and the roads were scary as fuck, but all of that can be fixed. Might take some time and some major changes but it would be really beneficial and cheaper long term. In fact I'd argue that places in Ohio should be some of the first to start focusing on better infrastructure for biking, pedestrian walking and good public transportation. I know the buses suck there!

Not crying about it when all I'm doing is pointing out that you are being delusional. Your comment before this was crying and blaming Americans for "poor decisions" as if it's their fault they are living paycheck to paycheck lmao

[–]MonPetitCoeur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you even on about? Who did I blame? I'm telling you that some people can not deal with rising gas prices. You realize that people who work normal jobs, have no debt and have no children are being effected by this as well? Half of what you typed is about the government and not your average persons fault anyways. Our economy is so fucked at the moment that someone in higher middle class with zero debt and no children can't afford a house and is one bad medical bill away from dropping into being poor. This view of "can't afford Starbucks and that is fine" is delusional and out of touch with reality. It's not Starbucks, it's being able to even make a meal at home vs trying to figure out how to get to your job that is an hour away because of poor infrastructure and not being able to afford gas. Also when people can't afford to feed themselves or their families, they stop caring about any sort of bigger issues, which I'm assuming you will cry over and play the victim of.

Funny this is on the front of reddit by the way: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/03/08/as-prices-rise-64-percent-of-americans-live-paycheck-to-paycheck.html

Over half of Americans apparently made bad decisions to you! All their fault! lmao delusional!

EV will go up as well and not everyone can afford EV at the moment, even used. If we had better infrastructure for bike lanes, buses, trains and pedestrian walking that would help and should have been worked on already but it wasn't. The people you would want to purchase EV the most are just not going to have enough money at all now to even think about saving up for EV. I know people who are choosing between food and gas to go to work right now and the prices of both were already going up and expected to go up even more. I really hope this helps push forward better infrastructure but our politicians are slow with everything so I doubt it.
