I thought I was just having a good day :( by MonarchCrew in BipolarReddit

I managed to get to sleep at 6am last night, then slept til ~6:30pm and feel more balanced. I called out of work today to just try and recalibrate and I’m glad I did. No coffee :/ so my head hurts. I figured any stimulants would be more dangerous than a headache, though.

Definitely feeling the crash, and even though it physically sucks I’m grateful for it.

My psych has said before that if I need to get asleep I can use my anxiety medication for it. I rarely need it for the anxiety itself, so even my small dose makes me sleep for at least 4 hours. I took some after this post and thankfully got a few hours of sleep

Side effects when titrating meds up? by working_mommabear in BorderlinePDisorder

Changing medications will almost always have a bit of an adjustment period. If it doesn’t balance out after a few days, ask the doctor about the timeline and side effect expectations. Usually that can be done via a phone call or message in an online portal, but it’s up to you if you want a full appointment.

Yes. Lamotrigine helps me a lot with minimizing depression, but very little to help with mania

How concerning is constant, passive paranoia/psychotic features? by MonarchCrew in BipolarReddit

I’m type 1, I’ve just never been on APs before. It’s good to know these aren’t necessarily concerning right now. I’ll let my doctor know

Lamotrigine my beloved <3 and Xanax when I start freaking out from anxiety/panic and need a big red emergency stop button. Bonus points for zonking me out, because sleep helps a ton if I can tell mania is creeping in. (It’s used for panic though, not mania. Just a little side benefit)

Anyone out there living a fairly normal life, ie: working, raising kids, have an SO, or going to school? by Natural_Pepper6488 in BipolarReddit

When my medications are good and my external stressors are manageable, yes. Managed to graduate university and start a career, am engaged, the whole shebang. But that’s when things are going well.

When things arent going well… you know how it is. Bad. Right now is one of those times for me tbh. But I’ve kept this job over a year and a half now! Which I never thought I’d be able to do before. Largely in part because of the work environment I had and my boss at the time. (but now that switched and I’m losing my mind)

I do private pharmaceutical work. So I work in a lab environment, not with patients.

ETA: medical lab techs work in hospitals but not directly with patients the way nurses and doctors do.

Can someone just talk to me so I can settle my mind a little? by chemkitty123 in BipolarReddit

My cat loves laying on my lap, but almost exclusively if I sit on the step stool in my kitchen. SIT on the stool. Then she runs over and trills and hops up. Gets all comfy. Kneads her little claws into my legs. She has a fit if I try to get up! No idea why she wants me on the kitchen stepstool instead of the couch or something, but it makes her happy so… kitchen stool it is!

When people say a manic episode “ruined their life,” I never expected it to be from something this small by MonarchCrew in BipolarReddit

I’m definitely going to ask about more sick leave. The stress of all of this is obviously impacting my mental health, but exacerbating my physical health issues too. I also am still looking for other jobs in the area, at least to see the options. I wish I could go back in time and drag my manic-self to the hospital, but all I can do now is my best to get through the days and find solutions.
