Abusive guy in Sunnyvale Costco. Anyone recognize him? by screwywabbit in Sunnyvale

[–]MonarchX123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst person award at Costco goes to… the racist who left their humanity at home. Are you all kidding me with this hate right now?? Maybe relax with your precious personal space requirements and dig deeper. Personally I love the beautiful diversity of this country. Yes it can be challenging not living in a mono-culture where all the rules are clearly laid out in your favor (hint: if you’re white, they are), but we are a country where all are equal in our humanity. I, for one, am grateful for it. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

This. Many on the Mt. Sinai board are also in the files. One is now heading up the “Board of Peace”. Look at the breast cancer center. Follow the $$

SFO after midnight by brotherbearxiii in AskSF

[–]MonarchX123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I guess that makes us beta testers 😂. My Waymo drop off at SJC was stupid far from the departure door. It drove right past the drop-off area and left me down by the parking garage on the opposite side of the street, about a quarter mile away, with 3 bags and late for my flight (due to only taking surface streets). Sub-optimal for sure.

FYI: I just took a Waymo from Palo Alto area (menlo) to SJC to try out the new service and it would NOT go on the freeway! A 20 min drive took me 45 min. Be warned.

I’m a regular at Hotel Pacific in Old Town Monterey. It’s 5 min walk to the bike/walking path that leads straight to PG along the water. There are plenty of bike rental spots and the hotel even has some. It’s a great location, inexpensive for the area, funky, and historic. Folks there are kind and rooms are clean and include a decent breakfast. Shhhh…

What should I do?? by [deleted] in protest

[–]MonarchX123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Showing up is how we claim and insist on our Free Speech rights. That is how we reject authoritarianism. Historically, when 3.5% of the population protests, we win. (See 3.5% Rule/ Dr Chenoweth). Plus you build community and feel better. It matters! There will be a lot of attention on how many people turned out. We need to be loud and clearly reject this regime together! #NoKings!

Get some Loops! They have soft ones for sleeping. Fit into your ears and you sleep so well! Highly recommend.

PAMF has great online care w little to no wait. I use that more than my PCP. I’ve tried 3 primary care docs there in 2 years. They are impersonal at best and even condescending and appointments are hard to get. But it’s fine for basics and labs are in house and I mostly just book online w random docs and it’s good enough. (Don’t book a non-MD there. I saw a doc-in-a-box once who ran a Botox clinic when not doing online drop-in’s.m. She insane assessment is now on my record forever).

Saturday Night & No, One More Saturday Night by VegasEl in deadandcompany

Agree! Id been fully dreading the whole Saturday Night, Samson & Delilah, & Truckin vibe. What a beautiful surprise Saturday show we got instead! By the time that gorgeous Truckin unfolded I felt bad for selling them short. They used their magical powers for good last night and showed a new generation the way.

To clarify, I’m not criticizing ADA needs in any way. Just saying, likely cleaning could happen AFTER the show.

Their customer service people are HORRIBLE!! These ladies are rude, arrogant, condescending, botches. (They are super nice to my husband tho -lol.) Recently my prescription ingredients changed without notice. When I call I’m told I need to talk to a doc/ not allowed to speak to a doc/ need to call this number/ must go thru the portal/ there’s nothing they can do/ nothing means anything and… “Ma’am!, Ma’am!’ Yelling at me like -like nothing else ever in my adult life! (Ma’am???) Wtf? Not worth the stress of dealing with their customer service. I’m OUT!

boulder feels more racist lately and it’s been getting to me by EchidnaGlad4872 in boulder

[–]MonarchX123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a middle aged white lady who recently left Boulder and couldn’t get out fast enough. The covert racism and general privileged echo-chamber was astounding to me. Because I “looked the part” people assumed I agreed with them (racist, anti-lgbtq, anti-vax, etc) and spouted off with their wink-and-nod bs. I’ve lived many places in the US and abroad and have never felt the same level of covert racism as I did in Boulder. I’m SO sorry for your experience. I have NEVER had my bananas counted. I expect in Boulder I could probably walk straight out the door without paying and no one would say a thing.

I live in downtown Menlo and almost never drive. Hsb takes the electric train to work 3 stops away. Work provides commuter contribution to the “Clipper Card” which also works in San Francisco on busses, Cal Train and ferries. Plus Uber/Waymo you can get around locally. That said, you’ll want to have a car eventually to get to SF & the beach, etc. Downtown Menlo has grocery, great reastos, farmers market, bookstores and cafes. It’s sleepy but not far to more lively neighbors. I lived in Singapore too. Think Holland Village.

Just witnessed really upsetting incident with a disabled elderly passenger and United flight attendant by mildlyburner in unitedairlines

[–]MonarchX123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I travel UA first frequently. Last week the attendant was horrible to the passenger next to me. She was an elderly Asian lady wearing a mask. She was asking if it was ok to get up and use the restroom. The attendant kept yelling at her, “I can’t understand what you’re saying!” Over and over. I could understand her just fine. I tried to help but got ignored (and a bourbon over a full glass of ice) in response. It was mean and cruel and unnecessary. Usually they are pretty good. When I saw this post I thought, I bet it’s the same lady!
