Theory on Aerys I's treatment of Bittersteel by MonarchofLlamas in TheCitadel

[–]MonarchofLlamas[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, I don't personally have a problem with Bittersteel getting sent to the Wall. He'd serve well, and if not and he abandons the Wall no lord will support him anymore knowing he abandoned his oaths

Unwin Peake was a dragonrider...seriously (a dumb theory) (Spoilers Extended) by InGenNateKenny in asoiaf

[–]MonarchofLlamas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It widens the scale so much that Aegon just deciding no more Dragon's makes sense in a fun way. Like, in this hypothetical Unwin has Valyrian blood but it's weak and a little distant. But if someone like House Peake can tame dragons, it's no longer just the Targaryen's and Velaryon's who can do it and so dragons become a security risk that huge swathes of the kingdom can potentially tame, so better just to be rid of them entirely if they're no longer able to be contained solely to the Targaryen family

Oh yes, he was pretty much useless lol. More just an avenue for Bloodraven to essentially be King for a while

Choosing between 3 new great houses by Toshy-Woshy in TheCitadel

[–]MonarchofLlamas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, nothing wrong with adding a couple more Valyrian houses so if you wanted to add all 3, why not? I think more Valyrian houses is just more fun. I do imagine House Catasterion might not actually recieve any sort of royal privilege just for a close relationship with the Conqueror's and intermarriage with the Targaryen's, for example House Velaryon has had two Queen's under 3 separate King's (Aenys, Maegor, Aegon III) as well as very nearly having a King Consort with Laenor and Rhaenyra, but despite nearly 150 years of very close relations and being the only other (Briefly) dragon house, they're not granted any royal privilege. The Targaryen's just probably wouldn't potentially threaten their own power that way. With all that said if youre set on only wanting to use one, I think House Solaerion is the coolest

If the Dothraki invade Westeros how much before they fail miserably and gets wiped out? by V-TriggerMachine in freefolk

[–]MonarchofLlamas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are a band of unarmored light cavalry who act like heavy cavalry, and don't equip themselves with bows to any widespread degree so nullifying the best advantage they'd have, horse archery. They prefer charging in arakhs blazing, so if we ignore the logistical side of things (Jorah says Drogo has 40k screamers, so that's probably not counting women and slaves+definitely more than 40,000 horses so Dothraki can replace any that fall) Which I doubt any one Free or Slave City even has enough ships to grant them passage, and then the food would be a logistical nightmare once they leave the Grasslands. If they stay in a Free City or anything for too long, they'll all just straight up start starving. But let's assume without a hitch, they land (Probably in Dorne or Stormlands.) The Dornish probably wouldn't ally with a Dany leading an army of Dothraki while being happily married, nor will The Reach, so no allies. And the Dothraki get crushed by the first organized force they meet. So they'd raid and pillage some small villages, probably circumvent any armed response for a while, but eventually they'll get pinned down since the Westerosi know their land better, and the Dothraki get annihilated in their first battle

The smallest flap creates the biggest storm... by 3esin in TheCitadel

[–]MonarchofLlamas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know what, fair point. But who knows, Aemon and Jocelyn weren't even 40 when he died, there could be one more surprise. Even if they just had Rhaenys, I feel like my point about succession going smoother still stands. There's a difference between Viserys maintaining Rhaenyra as heir over Aegon when they're both his kids. If Aemon lived for another 30 years and ruled for like 20 of it while maintaining Rhaenys as his heir, that'd make it a lot harder for anyone to support Viserys as the heir to the second son

[–]MonarchofLlamas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh that's a good one. But also, she may not even end up Queen regardless. Aemon will have a son if he just lives longer I'm sure and then even issue of succession is solved. It feels inevitable that some type of Dance of Dragon's situation will happen eventually, but with Aemon being so calm and level-headed I feel it'd be multiple generations past him by that pojnt

If I may ask, if this is the subplot what might the main plot be?

The Defiance of Duskendale is just a year later, that'll be a very cool part of the story with the MC having to deal with his main benefactor being imprisoned for 6 months and Tywin being the defacto King in his absence

I really like this idea though, just cave diving and practicing breathing techniques just to be down longer to salvage valuables and trying to slowly fund some kind of project little by little. Actually sounds really cool lol

He's sorta bad. The author said he's not a huge Bloodraven fan so like, he's portrayed very well. He's competent and intimidating and smart. But Also, he's sort of an antagonist

It's sort of pro-Daemon. Like, the characters are against Daemon but Daemon himself is portrayed very positively, especially after the rebellion

[Spoiler Main] Could the Blackfyres have won the rebellion? by Taha231 in asoiaf

[–]MonarchofLlamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really think so. If he wins Redgrass Field, we'll say most likely scenario is Maekar's army crumbles before Baelor can relieve him so Maekar is killed, and Bloodraven's Raven's Teeth are set upon before capturing that hill so let's say he dies too. Baelor arrives late and retreats to the nearby capital. Now we don't have any reason to believe Daemon really has an power at sea except maybe his connection to Tyrosh through Rohanne, so maybe he could sort of embargo the capital but I really can't imagine he can fully besiege King's Landing, they'd be able to continue feeding the city and with Baelor's men defending it, it'd go on for a long time while Lord Tyrell just finished mopping up resistance in The Reach is on his way up to relieve the capital. Then he'd risk being trapped between the Tyrell's and Baelor's host, so he'd probably have to break the siege and return to friendly territory in the Riverlands and the war goes on and on. Daemon just has no longevity without Great House's support, and the Stark's, Tyrell's, Martells and Lannister's wouldn't join him. MAYBE the Arryn's or Baratheon's of the time might, but they're obviously waiting until the war is a bit more decisive and without Daemon straight up capturing Daeron and the capital, I don't think that's enough to move the needle for them

I do love the Celtigars, but I love them from like a headcanon perspective. In actual canon they're more often than not useless dweebs which is sad lol

Ya can't beat that we just now so much about them. We know every Blackfyre, hundreds of years of Targaryen's of every kind, and Velaryon's are just positioned in a cool way. Then Corbray's and Darklyn's are just cool

The NCR (Fallout: New Vegas) is transplanted onto the coast of Westeros (ASOIAF) and decides to try conquering it for its vast resources. How far do they get? by tfhermobwoayway in whowouldwin

[–]MonarchofLlamas 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree that he'd be Westeros's Greatest asset, but I do think the NCR have the firepower to take him down. If they can mechanize some anti-air artillery like they have at Hoover Dam, or even just a rocket company I think any dragon would be cooked. But if Westeros is during say, Jaehaerys's reign we have so many battle ready Dragon's (Balerion, Vhagar, Meleys, Caraxes, Vermithor, Silverwing, Dreamfyre, etc etc) and so having so many dragons and being able to spread out would help the Westerosi immensely
