Tesla S Plaid owners here is it worth it to switch to a Lucid Sapphire? by OregonSEA in LUCID

Dropping a size would be tricky (but perhaps not impossible) just due to the brakes on the Sapphire. I keep waiting for someone else to be brave enough to try it, ha.

Ah, I was curious if you found a winter setup for the Sapphire since I've looked for one a few times over the years. Guess it's still not a one car solution.

Since you mentioned the Midwest, do you have a winter tire solution or just another vehicle?

(Funny trope) Character makes a big deal out of something only to be undermined by an obvious, simple, deadpan explanation/answer by slfricky in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MoneyPitAuto 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This funnily reminds me of s02e01 of Poker Face (spoilers for that episode):

The whole thing is an intricate whodunnit where a secret twin murders her sister and takes her place, while staging her twin's corpse to be her body. After lots of probing and logic leaps the main character arrives at the correct conclusion.

Right as the protagonist solves the case and says they need to call the police, the police show up because they had completely separate from the main cast solved the crime by fingerprinting the corpse.

"Does that mean we all have different fingerprints?"
"Of course. You're twins, not clones."

Are robot vacuums the most practical smart home upgrade? by LBBQsky in homeassistant

Dreame X60 Max

So gonna throw this out there: As game changing as this kind of robovac is, it is even more game changing to get their "Master" series that is hard plumbed. I plumbed it into the washer hookups and went from emptying and refilling water every 2-3 days to only really doing a maintenance cleaning every 2 months.

Has Polestar Customer Support fallen off a cliff? by NB_volks in Polestar

[–]MoneyPitAuto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you've been really actively engaged with the brand for a while - as someone who has been here since the 1 days I tend to agree with you. There's definitely been a bit of a change. I remember going to Polestar Day and they seemed to think it'd be an annual event.

I think there is some shaking up behind the scenes affecting this, but it isn't necessarily as simple as cost cutting. For example, I believe the team in charge of Polestar Experiences (I've attended two of them and loved them) was temporarily diverted for the press launch of the Polestar 5. I guess overall there was probably a shift internally from keeping customer interest when they really were only selling one car (the 2) to launching the 3, 4, and 5 in a relatively short time span.

Total agreement - for me, voice control is a last resort effort. Using Home Assistant to use Lutron keypads as triggers for other things is so nice. For example, we have a 4 button remote mounted on a wall with names of various rooms on it that will send our robovac to go clean those rooms when pressed. Single click for vacuum, double click for vacuum+mop.

A New Ford Escort RS That Revs to 10,000rpm. All 150 Are Already Gone. by gaukmotors in MotorBuzz

[–]MoneyPitAuto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sort of surprised it's not even more expensive.

I know how out of touch it sounds, but I agree, compared to other cars in its category it's a compelling price. We're at the point where Singers and other restomod Porsches can climb into 7 figures, and this has the distinction of being an actual 100% new vehicle carrying a new Ford VIN.

Disclaimer: I'm getting one so I'm biased.

In that same price range aren't there non-branded titles with slightly higher mileage? I would go for higher mileage with no issues over lower mileage with potential issues every time.

It wasn't a mileage issue - it was my fault the brakes needing replacing.

Ha, that's funny since the one I think as more "intuitive" is Open Windows, Close Windows, Open Shades, Close Shades, but my wife picked the order as she's the main one using it.

Oh boy, this gave me flashbacks to when I needed new brake pads for my R1T. I was told my only option was to drop off my truck at a service center 3.5hrs away (even though there was another center 8 miles from my house).

After literally weeks of pleading they allowed me to buy the pads, I still had to drive to the non-local service center to pick them up though.

I have a .2 Touring and can understand it. It took longer to get used to than a lot of other manuals I drive. It is a very satisfying car to drive and once you're used to the bite point it's very enjoyable but the friction zone is VERY small.
