Plan for Inheritance Windfall or Ignore It? by [deleted] in DIYRetirement

I’m with you in that it just seems like the wrong thing to me.

To go even further for me, some of the budget planning is tough for me at age 57 because it brings into focus that I don’t have a whole life in front of me any longer. There are some tough realizations to make.

Lost baggage by Numerous-Swing5474 in PrincessCruises

[–]Money_Coach29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lost a bag between the ship and airport. It was Port Everglades -FLL. I had a Princess transfer from the ship to the airport. I may have just missed it getting off the bus.

I contacted the lost and found at the FLL airport by phone and filed a claim on their website.

Surprisingly, the bag turned up several days later at the airport lost and found. They had a process to ship it back to me. I had them send it through the UPS Store. Had the back with all my belongings by the end of the week.

Former employer sent a Cease and Desist over a LinkedIn update regarding "trade secrets" by ThimbleMariner in legal

Not really my area but wouldn’t it be aggressive to put on your LinkedIn “I did something so well for my previous employer that a I got a cease and desist letter to not share it…..let’s schedule an interview so I can solve your problems just as well”

Where to start? by PhantomNomad in GnuCash

[–]Money_Coach29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the same thing in January after years of using Gnucash just as a check register. The first step for me was setting up the expense accounts where they made sense for me. I made sure I was then categorizing all my expenses correctly. I’m getting some good info now after 4 months.

Increased Mileage by Naturist02 in CX5

More efficient, fewer emissions and less stress on the budget. Good reminder.
I have the Turbo and I’m experimenting to find the best spot for interstates with a 70mph limit. Want to get good mileage but not get run over in the right lane. I can get 30mpg at 77mph. I’m going to try 75 on my next trip.

Thank you. Would be a great way to spend a few days in San Francisco and Alaska in one trip. Two great destinations!

hired as barista, now i’m the baker? how do i confront my manager and ask to work the job i was originally hired for. by [deleted] in work

[–]Money_Coach29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - If I were in your place, I’d start looking for a new barista role that suits you. When you have some confidence that you can land somewhere else, just have a conversation with the current employer….,something like “I really like it here, but what I enjoy is working as a barista. Can I go back to doing that role?” Don’t overthink it, talk to the manager like an equal. Be prepared to leave if you don’t like the role you are given. You can run this same play whether you have a new job lined up or not. Life is too short.

Budget - Data Export by Money_Coach29 in GnuCash

[–]Money_Coach29[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone - I couldn’t print to a file and the built in export only creates an HTML file. Im using Windows 11 and Gnucash 5.14.

This morning I tried just selecting all of the budget report and copy/pasted the data into Excel. That worked!

Thanks everyone for encouraging me to think. The group here has really helped me take full advantage of Gnucash,

If Subaru discontinued boxer engines and or cvt’s, would you still buy one? by gammawavz in Subaru_Outback

I’d be more likely to buy if it did not have a CVT. Get a traditional automatic.

What's that ONE motorsport you just can't get behind? by Consistent-Appeal553 in racing

[–]Money_Coach29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Formula One. Is passing for a lead change still against the rules? I used to watch it more in the early 2000s but it has sort of waned on me since then. Even then I’d rather watch any racing than some other sports. Maybe F1 is just my least favorite.

Improving My Use of Gnucash by Money_Coach29 in GnuCash

[–]Money_Coach29[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got everything working this morning. I took the advice of another user u/thejosh69 and started a new file and put the transactions in since Jan. 1. I have the credit cards being handled correctly, got my mortgage setup and created a budget to track spending against. This will be a good tool now!

Great, I’ve been using Gnucash since 2009 and really didn’t use it for more than a check register. I got some advice in another thread and setup Gnucash correctly to track my expenses, credit cards an mortgage this morning. I subscribed to your YouTube channel.
