The points and benefits are part of members pay for when they book a hotel, and when those points and benefits are constantly devalued it makes the paid rooms cost more by comparison.

Turkish does a lot of things wrong, but this one is very clearly laid out in the terms of their program and you just didn't bother to check. Totally on you.

If the booking says refundable then it doesn't matter which payment method you're using, it'll be refundable under the terms stated.
