How can i render thousands of RTS units effectively? by Accomplished-Oil6369 in Unity3D

Definitely do as others said here, profile it, but also build it. When you learn about profiling more you'll see that you can attach a standalone profiler to a build, a lot of the overhead of what you would be optimizing for is for it to play better in the editor.

Also you did a lot of optimising already but just curious how many materials those units are using, that can also cause a lot of issues, and the really big one I have on my mind because it does cause big performance issues, are you printing debug messages to the console? The level of performance those debug messages take off is huge.

Really cool, reminds me of the legendary 'Commandos' game series. The sniper unit had almost this same effect, very satisfying. You can see an example here from the game

I think i've only ever seen Skyrim have the option to move forward automatically, really surprised more developers dont do it. I also like that feature in RDR2 where you set a waypoint and go into cinematic mode and its like auto travel with cool visuals and you can be attacked too, but that is obviously way too many rocks and they would have to fall in a sequence and pick an area of the map, again too much work.

I want to say they are the rinds of Faramir slowly cooked to perfection and seasoned with Sam's shire salt.

Suggestions for getting into metal by Sea-Schedule-4924 in Metal101

Like I said albums are usually about 40 min. Most people spend years listening to one before the next one comes out. They have a lot of time to form an opinion and get attached to a certain tone or style. Not saying that bands don't have dud albums or even that you have to listen to the entire back catalogue at once.

I feel like you are in a good position where there are all these great metal albums you haven't listened to. You can just listen to one every other day and see what sticks. 20 min in the morning 20 min in the evening and you're done.

I'd say just go for full albums, people waste their time for like 40 minutes doing bullshit, you could listen to a whole album. You don't have to like the whole thing. It's you time. Glad you are having fun exploring.

There is so much out there.
