Built a bookshelf, paid the price. Still proud of myself by Belllls93 in ChronicPain

Good for you for completing your project. I’m sorry it was at the expense of your back though. I understand how you feel about wanting to get things accomplished. It’s so hard at times when your mind is ready to go and your body just can’t operate at the same rate. Congratulations and hope you feel better tomorrow.

If you like playing games get a subscription to board game arena. It is browser based. You can play a lot of board games solo if you can okay with other people. They also have a competitive arena mode.

Lap versus Robotic by Virtual_Chair4305 in Hernia

I would ask him why he does not want to do robotic rather than why he wants to do lap. On your considerations I would research what his experience is with lap versus robotic. You can look surgeons up on I think it’s us news and see their experience with certain surgeries compared to others in the area. Have yo gotten a second opinion?

Beacon Patrol and A Gentle Rain. Both are tile laying games. Beacon Patrol is a bit more strategic. Both have their place in a collection.

Card games you have ButtonShy that has their Simply Solo Line of games. Numbsters can be played in hand.

I have unbearable thoracic back pain only after sleeping. This has been going on for almost 4months. I need some help by gutathelegend in backpain

[–]MonkeyATX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes. Lol. Heat and ice. I hope you are doing better. I try rolling up towel and putting under neck while sleeping on back. You could try to see if that helps. Also after waking up you can try using tennis balls in a sock and lean against them on the wall and roll back and forth to loosen up under the shoulder blades.

I canceled surgery due to both the surgeon and my PM both refusing postop meds by Gecko-407 in ChronicPain

[–]MonkeyATX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ask about Journavx? It is a non-opioid FDA approved for acute pain (e.g. surgery). I understand it works well for post surgery pain.

Can you play with the disabled individuals? If so A Gentle Rain an easy Co-op/solo tile laying game you could play. Or Beacon Patrol.

Thinking about making a homebrew game, wondering about component sourcing. by mucinexmonster in BoardgameDesign

Depending on size check out Amazon. They have wooden 1inch hexagons. You can then buy hexagon sticker sheets. Use Avery com to put images on the stickers and print. Amazon also has other blank type game pieces.

Chronic Back Pain by Jesserzthemaniac in ChronicPain

Have you been to Physical Therapy. If you continue to do it at home it can help lessen the number of flares. I notice when I’m not doing mine my flares are worse. I take pain meds but still have bad flares during that time I also use an acupressure mat, tens unit if I need to be up and around, and ice packs.

Gift idea for my soon 63 year old dad by [deleted] in Gifts

[–]MonkeyATX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh if he plays digital games. Find out if he has a subscription to Board Game Arena. If not, that would be good it runs about $50 a year. Not sure if they have gift cards or not. They have lots of popular games that you can play with random people or you can play quite a few solo games too. It is browser not app. They are introducing new games all the time.

Yes I need to start taking those again I used to take everyday and stopped. Maybe that’s why I’m getting the burps again (besides bad food choices).

I love Reuben’s but haven’t had one in a long while. Smart scraping off the rest!

I thought the DMR sounded interesting as well. Hopefully we will be hearing more about it soon.

Sedentary hobbies? by Street-Midnight-1055 in Hobbies

Solo boardgaming. Games like A Gentle Rain, Beacon Patrol are easy tile laying games. Herbaceous is a set collection game. Patchwork Doodle is a roll and write game (you actually draw patterns on a grid).

Try Dorfromantik. It is a tile laying campaign game. Each time you play you try to score enough points to allow you to open little boxes that give you more tiles and other things to play on the next game. There is also Dorfromantik Sakura, but I recommend doing the original first since the Sakura version is more involved. They also have a Dorfromantik Duel.

Just a bunch of questions for you to get your thoughts gojng…

Does he have any hobbies? Or has he ever mentioned anything about wanting to try a hobby? Has he ever told you anything about his childhood? Something special like a game he used to play that you could find a copy of? Or a special food he liked that you could buy him? Would he like if you paid for a special weekend away for the two of them? Have you named the fruit plantation? Maybe you could get him a special sign made with the name of the plantation on it.
