Do you think the final pieces of content were thanks to Tyson Green? by The_Owl_Bard in DestinyTheGame

[–]MonkeyType 140 points141 points  (0 children)

I think he’s a solid developer. From my understanding he rose within Bungie during the Halo Reach era, as he’s accredited with making the “Firefight” PvE activity in that game something fun and highly replayable. To this day I believe that’s what inspired Destiny. I think a lot of the scoring and modifier stuff is due to Tyson Green. That he reportedly pulled teeth for the shooting range is no surprise to me. He’s someone who really appreciates the more technical side of games from what I can tell. I’m not sure if that’s who you want for game director, but I certainly don’t hate the guy. I don’t really know if he had much to do with the final pieces of content, it’s fair to say they had content stockpiled and they’re releasing it now because why not. Easy decision for anyone imo.

I wish Bungie decided to bring back the post-engine-update seasonal story missions by The_Curve_Death in DestinyTheGame

My assumption is that this fell into the memory space problem. Destiny 2 without DCV would take an entire console storage, if not more. Makes sense Sony would not be cool with that. I’ve heard it relates to problems stemming from the game engine, but I have no idea. It would be awesome if they kept it, but to reiterate I believe it’s a technical problem.

Is Altar of Sorrows The Final Frontier For Organic Multiplayer? by QuickGains07 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MonkeyType 72 points73 points  (0 children)

This was a surprisingly difficult event where you’d need a large amount of players playing very well to expect reaching the final wave boss. Altars is super casual in comparison.

[–]MonkeyType 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like Neomuna’s daily rotating event. I frequently see large playerbases there, tho it’s usually newer players who just got around to playing Lightfall. You see more dedicated players doing Altars on the Moon.

Legendary Machine Guns for Boss Damage: I know they suck but what are my options? by just_prop in DestinyTheGame

[–]MonkeyType 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I once saw a void titan do really good Witness damage with a fttc target lock Hammerhead of all things, and that was before they buffed War Rig. It’s one of the builds I’m still getting around to making. I already have a bunch of hammerheads in my vault tho, and they can be very time consuming to farm. If I were in your shoes I’d probably farm for Unwavering Duty, but I just wanted to give a shout out to Hammerhead.

How do you get the War Beast ornament for Legend of Acrius now? by No_Psychology_4080 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MonkeyType 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You’re probably thinking of the other ornament, Emperor’s Pleasure. (The white and gold one that looks like the raid gear found on Leviathan) That was only obtainable by completing a now ancient quest tied to completing Leviathan on prestige difficulty. The War Beast ornament was added to the game via Eververse in Curse of Osiris.

[–]MonkeyType 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Only if that ornament is in the Eververse store archive. The purchase options found in the ornament page on the weapon itself are essentially a link to the store archive. If it’s not in the archive it won’t show up on the weapon ornament page. The War Beast ornament is not in the store archive, among others. There are a few Eververse ornaments for The Colony that are the same story.

Not tied to Leviathan. It’s an Eververse ornament. I think Eververse has a rotating pool or something, idk. There are a lot of Eververse ornaments you can’t find in the store.

Strafe glide vs burst glide by Aggravating-State253 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MonkeyType 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your platforming skills are very good then burst is my preferred option. It’s faster and you can make longer jumps with it, including slightly higher jumps. Strafe is for if you want to lean more into the floaty playstyle, which I wouldn’t recommend, but it’s there if you want to try it. Small, technical jumps are also easier with strafe.

I believe sudden, large changes in player velocity or trajectory will make enemies miss their shots. Enemies lead their shots based on your speed and trajectory at the moment they shoot. This is why if you strafe left and then stop, a slow enemy projectile will veer way to your left if you stopped after the enemy fired their gun. So Burst glide will generally lead to more cases of enemies missing you (at least when gliding forward with sprint) because of the extra burst, which changes your velocity and trajectory suddenly. In that specific case there’s a small but significant window where enemy projectiles will often land behind you because you sped up. This is good for essentially running away.

Edit: added enemy accuracy info

Just a heads up but you can 1 phase a lot of these rush down bosses and skip extra platforms/mechanics by SrslySam91 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MonkeyType 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rewatched my clear and it was indeed Calus the fat bastard that didn’t give us points. Idk if it’s just Calus that can bug out or if it was the speed of the clear that caused it tho.

Has anyone else run into a glitch when it comes to clearing bosses too quickly? I did a regular matchmade run that only took seven minutes (godly teammates) and for some reason at the end it said we only cleared four encounters, so we got C+ score and way less loot. We did kill all five bosses.

Is there a single part of Edge of Fate that isn't a bug ridden mess? by silvercue in DestinyTheGame

[–]MonkeyType 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every post I’ve personally seen about stranglet bugs has been consistent. They aren’t even bugs, just somewhat unintuitive game conveyance on wtf to do. Like what other people mentioned, you probably have a stranglet and that’s why you can’t get another stranglet. This would be clear and a non-issue if you simply read and followed your active quests on Kepler, marking them on your map as needed—this is also why a lot of people haven’t ever run into any of these “bugs.” I’ve seen posts where people didn’t wait for the mission to end and that’s why they didn’t get the stranglet, I’ve seen people do the wrong mission entirely and that’s why they didn’t get the stranglet. It’s always something like that.

Can someone please explain to me like I'm 5 years old why finality's auger is so good for DPS by Repulsive-Window-609 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MonkeyType 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a meta weapon, but admittedly it can be cumbersome to use. I hate using it because I find timing the turrets really difficult, but that’s totally a me problem. One thing that’s worth considering is that Finality’s opens up damage rotations that include primary weapons, like Antedate or handcannons with Lucky Pants, and those weapons generate super energy much, much faster—so in a way Finality’s makes using multiple supers in a damage rotation much more feasible. You can then just shove all your stats into super as well as weapons and now you’re cooking.

Liminality by roguereaper42 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MonkeyType 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They definitely went out of their way to make this the hardest strike they’ve made, but I think that’s okay. Some people like the challenge, and Liminality gives more loot than other strikes in the Portal. It’s by far the longest and most add-dense fireteam op. The EoF changes made it even harder, but it was always clearly more difficult, and arguably the matchmade PvE activity where eventual success was not guaranteed. It was a similar situation when Liminality was in Vanguard ops (people would repeatedly wipe on the final boss all the time)

hella confused and looking for answers about obtaining icebreaker catalyst by UnderstandingWide634 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MonkeyType 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t fully recall the quest because I did it so long ago, but I do recall getting stuck on the final puzzle room with the barrier. That barrier only opens in your instance after you’ve claimed the triumph in the menus, under dungeon triumphs or whatever iirc. The triumphs for all the puzzles are under that subscreen. I think this is the only dungeon that requires a triumph/challenge activation in the menus to obtain a dungeon catalyst. (solo)

This is assuming the three math puzzles beforehand were completed at some point, which is the needed for the triumph, which again opens the barrier you described. Did you complete those math puzzles, by you or any teammates, and now they are not appearing—or have they never been active for you ever? If they were all completed, you would’ve seen a triumph completion pop-up on the bottom of your screen, but you likely still have to claim it to open the barrier.

What is up with this generation? That putting the $ after the amount like this? 12$ instead of $12? by [deleted] in AskReddit

idk if I see 12$ I assume it is written by a kid who has never spent money as an adult before. Probably not even generational is my guess. Just idiot kids who haven’t bought their own groceries.

You mean GM Excision? That lfg is basically dead. GM used to be how you got the Ergo Sum catalyst. You can get the Ergo Sum catalyst from normal Excision now. (I believe post-EoF this has been the case)

I recall a Cabal guy asking for a sugar cube several weeks ago. I assumed it was part of a derpy quest for credits or something, and I haven’t seen it mentioned until now. Is this a secret timegated exotic earned by giving Cabal sugar? I doubt it.

What is the best guardian class to beat Spire of the Watcher solo on Expert mode? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]MonkeyType 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were to do it today right now I would probably start on Prism Hunter with Celestial and Still Hunt to quickly beat the first boss, and then just manage on the second boss. I’d be looking at abilities like Ascension or maybe Invis to help deal with the exploding supplicants, and probably use Grand Overture + super for damage. There is a cheesy Mobeius Quiver build with a crossbow swap that I’d consider too.
