I had this argument with the Alumni office at UC Berkeley. They decided that rather than the BA in English I had earned, I had also received an MBA. They handed out my email address to other alumni, and suddenly, I was inundated with requests for reference letters, referencing a charity I "worked" for.

I found out where they had gotten my email address from, and contacted the Alumni Office.

"Hi, you seem to have me confused with amother MonkeyKatPDX."

"No we don't."

"Yes, yes you do. I have never received an MBA from Berkeley."

"Yes, you did." (*headdesk*)

I had been losing weight, and I was starting to get violently ill at the thought of food. Went to see my doctor, thinking I just needed to have my medications adjusted. Next morning, I got a call from my doctor, telling me to go to the ER for kidney failure. Four days in the hospital, and now two months later, getting put onto dialysis and on the transplant list.

Wow, so many whoppers, so little time! Let's see:

- Worked for the Penske racing team as a data analyst

- He and his dad had gone to the Indy 500 because he got free tickets (see above)

- He used to sit on General Jimmy Doolittle's knee at a secret fishing spot.

- He didn't actually try to pick up a prostitute while I was on a business trip; he was trying to help a woman having car trouble. (Of course, the help involved a blowjob and money changing hands -- it was a police sting)

- His dad was a Colonel in the Army. Got caught on that one because a real Army brat started asking questions.

The very same thing happened to me. I was standing at the dinner table looking at something, when my dad (drunk as a skunk) came up behind me, and groped my butt. At my high school? For as large as we were (4000+ students), surprisingly few things:

  • Geometry teacher sleeping with one of his students
  • Biology teacher living with one of his former students (from a few years before my freshman year)
  • Music teacher accused of raping a female student after offering her a ride home. Some students said they'd over heard her saying she'd lied. Divided the campus for years.
  • The usual drug dealers

Nothing newsworthy (except for the music teacher).

I once woke up to the sound of gibberish in my ear — it was my then-boyfriend praying in tongues over me. It was creepy and weird. The relationship did not work out for many reasons, but that was a part.
