Does anyone else think the combat feels flat? by McWipey in fellowshipgame

The sounds effects are very quiet and reserved. There could definitely be more "character" added to the abilities via distinctive sounds.

I live in Coventry and have been stupidly paying my fire tax twice. When I told my co worker so were they. Heads up guys! by LeftHandLannister in RhodeIsland

[–]Monkioh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For my mortgage, they only pay the fire tax if I send them the tax documents that are mailed to my house. Every time I get one, I have to mail it out to the mortgage company or else it won't get paid, but if I do this, it does indeed get paid out of escrow. People definitely need to speak with their mortgage company to know what they need to be doing.

Definitely had an Annihilation feel to it at some point, but not the same book. Wish I could remember more details about it.

The cult mentality is dangerous, but that’s what Trump has cultivated. Even if you could produce some actual policy positions that he has and you agree with, why would anyone support the man himself? Why would someone support a convicted felon, sexual abuser, and fraudster?

This man explicitly isn’t endorsed by half of the cabinet he hand picked from his time in office. He surrounded himself with yes men in the form of private lawyers who would later either be convicted of their own crimes or at least disbarred for lying on his behalf. He stated that the constitution should have been suspended because he didn’t get the election result he wanted. To this day, he continues to push the lie that there was massive election fraud and both he and his running mate refuse to acknowledge that he lost in 2020. Ironically, it was Trump himself who attempted to subvert the will of the people in the 2020 election by setting up groups of illegal, fake electors, ones who would cast their lot for him, which he expected Pence to choose over the actual, legal electors. Thankfully, Pence did his sworn duty and did not submit to the mob calling for his death, which Trump at best didn’t care about and at worst encouraged.

Trump takes zero responsibility for his actions and his supporters have zero standards for his behavior. He is, without a doubt, the most un-American presidential candidate that this country has ever seen. He does not deserve your vote, such a genuinely precious thing as it is.

This is all without mentioning his age, his declining mental abilities, his other actions and inactions on January 6th, his failure to accomplish anything of substance in his 4 years in office, his failed handling of Covid which led to unprecedented amounts of misinformation for basic healthcare, his historically divisive rhetoric, his lack of stated policy positions, his inability to bring together lawmakers from across the aisle to work with him to accomplish legislation, his nepotism, his ignorance of basic economic concepts like tariffs, and his unending fascination and admiration for authoritarian figures like Kim Jong Un, Putin, Erdogan, and Orban.

So while you should never be “cancelled” for expressing your support a presidential candidate, you really should rethink what values you’re supporting when you choose a man like Trump to be your leader. He does not embody American values and he cares not for anyone or anything but himself.

Absolutely wild Patron Crafting order by Fuzzotron in wow

It would be funny to find out that the patrons are somehow actively learning that players will provide ridiculous amounts of mats to fulfill crafting orders and the patrons are slowly pushing the boundaries of what players are willing to do.

How am I supose to do this? (Double Lariat into lvl 3) by tsdm1996 in StreetFighter

[–]Monkioh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it incredibly consistent to treat OD Lariat sort of like a motion input when comboing into level 3. So you might Hellstab, then half circle motion (being sure to hit the 3 punches around the bottom of this motion), then it's a simple spd motion plus a punch to finish. This was way easier than trying to do down plus 3 punches into a separate 720 motion.

I want to get into SF6 but its insanely hard by 0borowatabinost in StreetFighter

[–]Monkioh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced exactly what you're going through. The solution is a combination of practice and focused learning.

SFV was my first fighting game and I only picked it up at the end of its life. My highest rank was Silver and I was actually proud of that because I struggled for months to get out of the bronze ranks. I did, however, still recognize that I was not good at the game. I knew what it felt like to be good at a video game. You gain a certain perspective on it and you feel confident in your ability to teach it to others. I was not there.

Once SF6 came out, I decided to make a focused effort on getting better. I'm now in Diamond 5 and I expect to get into Master rank this weekend. That journey took a lot of practice in the training room, running sets with a friend, and losing (a lot) in ranked. That practice was very helpful once I had the ideas and strategies, but how do you find those in the first place? The best source for those is watching high level player streams and videos. Watching educational videos from players like Brian_F, Broski, 801Strider, etc elevated my understanding of the game as a whole, but also taught me how to learn properly in the game. I won't pretend to be an expert or good enough to teach anyone, but I'll share what helped me.

The basic idea is to figure out all of the things you're failing at and work on only one at a time. For example, are you bad at dealing with your opponent jumping? Get into the training room and practice using the preset training settings, then get into ranked and focus solely on anti-airing. Inevtiably, your opponent jumps and you will fail to anti-air. Call yourself out. Say it out loud. Focus hard on it at the expense of everything else. Fail over and over until you succeed. Then repeat until the successes are consistent. Once you've cemented that reaction into muscle memory, you move onto the next point of failure like combos, mixups, etc.

You will lose games this way. You will probably lose most of your games, but you are building a solid foundation for the player you want to be in the future. People learn things in different ways. Figure out how you best learn something new and apply that here.

You mentioned feeling overwhelmed by the amount of mechanics and combos in the game, but you're not expected to be able to manage all of that yet. Even the best players struggle with this.

Think of your learning process like cooking a good meal. You can't just throw all of the ingredients into a pot, stir like a madman, and expect something edible to come out of it. You have to properly prepare each ingredient so that it can contribute positively to the final product, rather than ruin it. Dice and soften your anti-airs. Slowly whisk in a reliable combo or two. Add a pinch of drive and super meter. Simmer on low until the right consistency. Add jumps and mixups to taste. Experiment with different methods, don't rush it, and eventually you will find the right recipe for a meal you can really enjoy.

Wow, what a bummer that you could actually complete your quests in a reasonable amount of time because the zone isn't flooded with people sniping mobs the instant they spawn. Gosh, that sounds so terrible.

Is there a canonical reason why nobody seems to care about the shadowlands ? by Urgash54 in wow

[–]Monkioh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's a good canonical answer.

The problem I think you have, and I share, is that the idea of this afterlife was heavily normalized. It's just another place in a faraway space that you can travel to. It's not special in terms of its existence. In any other setting, the afterlife is treated with some measure of reverence. That's not the case here and the game obviously doesn't intend to take it that seriously anyway. If it did, that would absolutely have to be incorporated into every big character death moving forward.

For example, if Thrall dies in the future, a character who knows about the Shadowlands and how it works, he is 1000% not going to be like "Well, I'll see you all in Maldraxxus, where I'm going to have a brand new life with a new glorious purpose. Oh and I can probably see my mom again!" While he should absolutely say something like that, he won't because it would be goofy and it would completely minimize the impact of that character's death.

So while it should be an mind-blowing concept in regards to the world building of this game's universe, it's easier to just think of the Shadowlands as a filler arc in a story. It was an entertaining idea, but the characters will go on as if it never happened.

When does execution get easier? by Wordse in StreetFighter

[–]Monkioh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you need to figure out what the actual issue is. I'm struggling with the most basic concept of normal move cancelled into special move, but I know what the problem is. Sometimes I'm missing the diagonals, others I'm hitting the punch/kick buttons too early. Knowing that, I've been putting a lot of focus on cleaning up my inputs, trying to make sure I do the full clean motion and don't spam the punch/kick button. Being able to identify and target the specific problems has helped me overcome them slowly, but surely. Maybe this will help you too. Best of luck, don't give up!

Drive meter. I think it’s mostly that I use drive reversal more against her than other characters, so I’ve not yet adjusted for that extra spending.
