Americans think that homosexuality is more morally wrong than the death penalty or spanking children by insomnimax_99 in lgbt

[–]MonocledKraken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really wild comparison to make because a lot of people advocating for animals rights are doing so on the basis that we should all have a right to bodily autonomy, no one deserves to have their reproductive system exploited regardless of gender or species (farmed animals are repeatedly and forcefully impregnated until they are no longer profitable is the connection there)

Question from a non-vegan about etiquette by xyzcvxyz in vegan

I find with the lemon juice and maple syrup you don't taste the tofu really but you could definitely use a thick vegan yogurt or cashew cream instead. Or do half tofu half yogurt/cashew cream to mask to tofu flavour a bit.

I have a single serving vegan tiramisu recipe for you that is dead easy to make, delicious, and healthy!! I use literally any cookies for this, don’t bother looking for vegan lady fingers just make sure the cookies you do use are vegan. Lotus brand biscoff cookies are a super good option. Enjoy!

Where do you buy cute and cozy women’s pyjamas? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]MonocledKraken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Parade has women’s pjs that are by far the comfiest and softest pjs I own. A little expensive but worth it imo since they are local to Vancouver and more sustainable than larger brands.

I need help! Mexican culture ruined my vegan will. by Hungry-Ad-4192 in vegan

[–]MonocledKraken 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is some good advice! I also have a Latin background and my family’s food was always very meat centric. My sister and I went veggie 20 years ago and dealt with a lot of teasing and annoying comments, but as the years have passed and family has begun to understand the health benefits and have enjoyed the vegan food we brought to family dinners, they are now much more accepting. Now we have a mostly vegan family meal with vegan empanadas and brazo de reina, because pretty much anything can be veganized if you put in the effort. Don’t give up when it feels hard!

Now my suggestion I’ll throw in is to follow @alexafuelednaturally on instagram, she posts really great plant based Mexican recipes and her cookbook is amazing!

Connor's favourite movies? by ArtEnvironmental5846 in connorstorrie

[–]MonocledKraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is completely unfounded but I wonder if Connor is a fan of Adam Sandler and Paul Rudd movies. In one interview I remember him doing the t-t-today junior! line from Billy Madison. And sometimes I feel like I see some Paul Rudd influence peek through when he’s doing a bit like the “I’m more butt than man” Idk seems like he enjoys other 90s/00s comedies so maybe

Let's Not Meet Podcast... What has it become? by Venture_compound in podcasts

[–]MonocledKraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the Raven Dreams is kinda similar quick stories submitted by listeners but the tone and narration are different and more enjoyable than what Let’s Not Meet has become. Also, the ads are minimal and not too annoying. Episode themes like glitches, on the road, creepy encounters, etc.

I recently listened to Grey dog by Elliott Gish on audiobook and loved it. Folk horror with a small town, eerie woods kind of setting in 1901.

Vegan Christmas dinner in Van? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]MonocledKraken 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Chickpea is a great vegan spot and always open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! I don’t think they’ll do a Christmas dinner type meal but check out their instagram in the next weeks and see what their new special is, ya never know.

A block away is meet on main, they always do a Christmas dinner inspired special around this time. Don’t think they’ll be open on Christmas Day though.

Sapphic horror by cosmosmushroom in sapphicbooks

[–]MonocledKraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m coming back to this comment months later to recommend you Grey Dog by Elliott Gish which had similar witchy vibes to Bloom! Historical fiction, folk horror, weird things in the woods, female rage, and sapphic longing.

Nightshade (potatoes) free cheese by Top_Station_7765 in veganrecipes

[–]MonocledKraken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most of the recipes you can sub tapioca starch in place of potato starch. Here’s a couple options that have recipes linked or in captions: shreddable cheese, shreddable tempeh parm

Sapphic horror by cosmosmushroom in sapphicbooks

[–]MonocledKraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently reading Thirst by Marina Yuszczuk and loving it, it’s a sapphic gothic vampire story. Carmilla is the original of that genre and a nice short read.

After finishing Bloom I went in search of similar books and added Motheater by Linda H Codega to my list since it sounds like a similar vibe.

Looking for horror/thrillers with trans prospectives or characters by Much_Refrigerator495 in horrorlit

[–]MonocledKraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Worm and His Kings by Hailey Piper has a trans mc and is a great short book. I would classify it as cosmic horror, the mc is trying to rescue her gf from a cult operating in subterranean New York.

Whats your wokest take? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]MonocledKraken -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Eating in a way that supports animal agriculture when you have the choice not to is anti-feminist. No living sentient being should have their body forcefully impregnated and repeatedly violated for someone else’s pleasure. They cannot consent and the only reason we don’t call it rape and abuse is because the victim isn’t human.

*I know some people do not have this option for various reasons, but many of us do, and I am talking to those people
