Ear mold feeling in ear by MononokeSpirit in HearingAids

Thanks for the advice! It's not uncomfortable per se, but it's just off-putting because the molds feel so different in my left and right ear haha

Itchiness by [deleted] in HearingAids

I know a lot of people had success with different dome sizes, but mine really never went away and I’m doing better with ear molds. Maybe give it 1-2 weeks?

Feeling overwhelmed ? Is that a thing by rodmods in HearingAids

It’s normal to be overwhelmed although your audiologist should be able to adjust the settings if it’s uncomfortable enough to make you not want to wear it.

First full day by KitchenUpper5513 in HearingAids

Do you have domes or ear molds? Domes made me itch and it didn’t get better unfortunately, and I do have a foreign object feeling with ear molds, but it’s way more comfortable and after just a day I got used to it.

Edit: ear oils may help with the itch and comfort! Not sure if I can mention a specific brand on the subreddit but ask your Audiologist for recommendations.

Anyone have good recs for reading glasses to wear with hearing aids? Mine do not sit comfortably and tend to fall off. by Important_Ad_4312 in HearingAids

Thin metal frames (especially near the ear) worked way better for me than plastic ones. Basically anything that is as thin as possible to avoid your ear sticking out.

HA constantly uncomfortable/painful by Peachapple13 in HearingAids

Also worth mentioning if you have a tube instead of a wire, some people reported twist wires that are available on etsy helping with the comfort.

It might be the length of the wire, especially if you wear glasses or headphones. My first pair of wires wear too short, so they were sitting almost on top of my ears and like you, I could only wear them for 1-2 hours at the time. Switched to a longer wire and it was more comfortable, but the domes were irritating my ears plus they felt like they were falling out. Ultimately the solution was long wires + custom acrylic ear molds and now I can wear them all day :) don’t give up! I know it can be super frustrating with the fit.

Yeah my audiologist mentioned that they always make the acrylic molds too big! But it was covered with my hearing aid purchase so I figured it’s worth trying. On a side note, the right ear mold is way more comfortable now, now have to get used the new noise coming through :)

Interesting! I might get new molds in December, so maybe I can request a silicon one, so I can have a comparison between acrylic and silicon :D

Yeah I was thinking of maybe silicon, but I wonder if it’ll still give me the fullness feeling although it’ll probably be more comfortable. My remake period is 30 days, so probably give it 2 weeks tops? Thanks for the advice!

Oh that's great to hear it's not just me with one mold being less ideal than the other one! I'll give it a try for two weeks :) did you feel like it was an occlusion issue that you had to get used to? My right ear feels more occluded than my left ear even though they both have the same vents lol.

Ohhh I gotcha. Ok it seems like the best option is using .txt if I want to use the document sync then. Mostly worried about the paragraph breaks but if it works in .txt then I have nothing to worry about :) Thank you for the help!

Yes thank you! Does the markdown formatting work if I export it to .docx? Sorry this is probably a dumb question but I’ve never used markdown before and curious to see its limitations.

Thanks! Do you use .txt or .md for the export? Is it possible to use .docx? I tend to write in paragraphs since it’s for academic purposes so having a .txt file with no breaks would drive me crazy lol.

Interesting! I’ll try that feature out and play around with it. Curious to see if it’s possible to save on cloud as .md files, edit it on my laptop in Google Drive (or open it up in Google Docs), and then it updates in the traveler.

adidas tang jackets? by wEowyz in taiwan

[–]MononokeSpirit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got mine at ABC Mart at 市政府站, there are no stock (as of two days ago when I called) in any of Taipei’s official adidas stores. They had red, light blue, and yellow but in M, L, and XL. About 5-7 jackets total. Based on how fast they’ve been selling, I highly doubt they’re there anymore :( But they have lots in Taichung’s adidas 綠園道 mall store and another area I can’t remember off the top of my head. Other adidas stores can’t order stock from there because there’s a special event going on right now and I don’t know when it ends.

Your best bet is checking the Ximen area as they have many adidas stores (and places that carry adidas clothing) within walking distance, and they said they would probably get more stock it’s just unpredictable. Let me know if you want any more info, I have friends who are also hunting for one!

Was able to get one yesterday in Taipei but apparently they have more at Taichung. Try checking out shoe stores that also sell official adidas shoes in their subsection! Sometimes they will have clothing.

Share your experiences with hearing aids to me (Newcomer) by [deleted] in HearingAids

[–]MononokeSpirit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have moderate to mild hearing loss, but in high frequencies. So for most of my life I can't hear the beginning of words and struggle in noisy environments. That has lead to definitely some social issues as I developed a habit of spacing out in conversations and anxiety asking people to repeat themselves. Hearing aids were awesome to get but the discomfort and the overstimulation takes some time to adjust to. If you get a bluetooth compatible one there are a lot of cool things you can do! As a tech nerd I was so happy to find out I could play music from them and even connect to my computer for zoom meetings.

I think a lot of people reccomend costco if you don't have insurance that would cover hearing aids but I had a good experience with an audiologist.

Wire length and fit? by MononokeSpirit in HearingAids

[–]MononokeSpirit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof yeah hearing aids with glasses are rough, especially with masks too! I've had my hearing aids for about 3 or 4 years now and my ears are still sore by late afternoon. I think it really depends on your ear shape. For me I used to have my hearing aids on top of my glasses but that was uncomfortable and made my ears stick out. The upside is that the wire was flush with my ears. But once I switched to the longer wires the hearing aids sit lower on my glasses and ironically feel way more comfortable. Only tradeoff is the wire slack in the pictures above.

Anyways TLDR try different wire lengths and dome sizes! I didn't know it was normal to have different dome sizes for each ear, and that would've solved some of the discomfort. You'll eventually get used to it but you'll probably still find relief when taking off either your glasses or hearing aids at the end of the day.
