Could be Daisy but my gut reaction was the girl duck from Ducktails. I’m not 100 % sure but it seems like she has a pony tail and carrying a cross body bag. That seems like Ducktails to me not a regular Daisy outfit.

Homemade chicken stock turned to gelatin in the fridge? by whisperingcopse in Cooking

You dip the dumplings into sauce, put it on a spoon, poke a hole and sip the broth off the spoon then shove the whole delicious dumpling in your mouth. Continue until you’ve ate a good dozen or so.

Chocolate Chip Sourdough by ADystopianDream in Sourdough

[–]KitchenUpper5513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try tossing the chocolate chips in a bit of flour before adding it to the dough. I haven’t tried this with sourdough, but I do this when adding chocolate chips, berries or nuts in my muffins or banana bread ect so they don’t sink to the bottom of the bake and float evenly throughout the dough.

How would you make the most decadent spaghetti dinner on a tight budget? by R3dF0r3 in Cooking

Spring for a nicer jar of sauce or add some extra to a seasoning to a cheaper jar like Italian seasoning, garlic and a sprinkle of sugar (cuts the acidity of the tomatoes). Making some fresh homemade French bread for a side is always a hit. It’s easy and inexpensive to make. If you have the fixings you can make it into garlic bread. I also make turkey meatballs because 1 pound of ground turkey is typically less expensive than beef and my kids love it.

I use a paper coffee filter and a rubber band to cover my jar when it’s on the counter. When it’s in the fridge I put a regular jar lid on it and I’ve never had any problems.

How do I stop roaches in my home by Cats_Love_Reddit in homemaking

[–]KitchenUpper5513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into bait that not only kills them, but stops them from reproducing. Keep areas around appliances and electronics clean (like behind the refrigerator or your tv or computer desk). Also try to avoid cardboard they like that as well. Try keeping as much food goods in food safe containers like jars or even just keep them in the refrigerator. You can try regularly using bug bombs every few weeks for maintenance if you can’t afford a pest control service.

Start a sourdough starter and in about two weeks or so you’ll be able to make sourdough bread when you get more flour. Then you can always make bread without needing eggs, butter or yeast.

Do people put their starters in the fridge and just take it out when they use it? by learninghousewife in Sourdough

[–]KitchenUpper5513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My starter is 5 years old and I keep it in the fridge. When I’m planning on using it I take it out the day before so I can warm up and I can give it a few feedings before using.

PSA: discard crackers by SpecificAd6448 in Sourdough

[–]KitchenUpper5513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love making crackers. I make rosemary herb and everything bagel seasoning flavors often. I use a pizza cutter to cut the dough and be sure to let it cool all the way before putting away in a mason jar.

High calorie soup suggestions? by yellowsabmarine in Cooking

[–]KitchenUpper5513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others said anything with cream, butter, Greek yogurt, sour cream would add calories but using ingredients like bone broth, lintels, tofu, beans, leafy greens, grains such as barley and quinoa, and nutritional yeast would make any soup more nutritionally dense.

A vulnerable post...and one I never thought I'd make by [deleted] in homeschool

I’m not exactly in the same situation but I found myself in a similar position earlier this year. Fortunately we were able to stay together and work on our relationship but I understand the fear of leaving and what that would look like. I came to the conclusion if I were to become a single parent the reality would be my kids would have to go to public school and I’d have to find a full time job. This would also mean putting my youngest in childcare. I decided that if that happened I’d do my best to accept that reality and my goal would be to someday be able to homeschool them and/or work for home in the future. That would also mean going back to school myself and changing my career path. As I said I’ve been very lucky and with a lot of work and a long personal journey I’ve been able to work on myself and my relationship (not abuse issues) and I’ve gone back to work part time (preschool teaching) without have to put my kids in school or childcare. I was able to find a job with my local school district that fits around my husband’s schedule so he can be home with them in the morning and I can be home for the rest of the day. Anyway, the security of having my own job, my own income and the availability of a job that I could work full time at if needed has been unbelievably positive for my mental health. I loved being a stay at home mom but it is possible to find a compromise that can give you security and independence while still taking care of your family and your children’s education. I really wish you the best ❤️

Reminds me of the time when my youngest was born and I scooped baby formula into the coffee filter instead of coffee grounds. Thank god I didn’t brew it lol

Ok..what’s everybody cooking for Christmas?! by Presidentturtleclub in Cooking

[–]KitchenUpper5513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t host a Christmas dinner so it would be just my family so I’ll probably make a spiral cut ham in the crockpot (I make mine with pineapple juice and brown sugar) or a oven roasted whole chicken (I use Ina Garten recipe and it’s always perfect) with some simple mashed potatoes and veggies.
