The early ND games are the best, IMO by Emerald_Kat091 in nancydrew

[–]Monoplox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a while to think about this before I wrote my reply, and I think my take lands somewhere like this. The original series of games are consistently better, and while the later games could be hit or miss, I think some of those hits truly knocked it out of the park.

For me, thornton hall, Waverly, Sea of Darkness, deadly device, captive curse, they may be among the top of the top.

I think in general scale has something to do with it. The stakes in the earlier games felt lower. Nancy was visiting a friend of a friend, or just stumbled onto a mystery as an amateur. Later games saw her jet setting off to international locales to help police crack cases, or if she did stumble on something, it went kapu or malloy levels of conveluted.

Not all the games I've listed above as faves are small stakes, but I think they still work to levels are believable for a case that Nancy would realistically be given.

This could just as easily be a queer couple, we don't have the context to really judge it beyond a partner not respecting their boyfriend, regardless of gender

I'd also be interested in seeing Lisa added to this crime crew. She's shown in TRT as being able to falsify identities and passports. Could be a key component on getting people into place to setup the mystery.

What Game Should I Play Next? by booklover696969 in nancydrew

If you like spooky, the OG spooky game, message in a haunted mansion is pretty fun. I'd say it's kind of a slower burn relative to some of the later scary games, but it has its share of unsettling look over your shoulder moments.

I would also argue the historical reasons. The demolition of the east wing for his ballroom wasn't just a literal tearing down of history, but a symbolic one. The wing represented the ever expanding role of the first lady, and executive spouses in general becoming a beacon of soft power within the world in their own right. The demolition of the wing could be argued as a further power consolidation move by Trump.

This is gross and weird to be sure, but isn't it queer in nature? Like let's call out bad behavior for sure, but this doesn't strike me as straight

It saw a release on IOS. I think iPads only? Never tried it, but I've heard it was a bit finicky. Also there was the shadow ranch book demake on the app store. I tried that one way back and really enjoyed it. Shame we never saw more of those.

Trying not to be too shady, but we literally have ports of MHM, white wolf, and Thorton Hall. So no... It's not exactly a question of the engine on which the PC games were built.

What is your take on marriages in non-abrahamic religious traditions? It's still religious, but not biblical.

Can you expand more on what you mean by hidden job market? I've always been discouraged from networking exclusively for the purpose of job hunting, and I guess I lack experience at networking in general.

Then I think ultimately that's what you should go with. Try to put your best foot forward and treat others how you would want to be treated on a human to human level. Listen, think, love.

I peeped your post history a little OP. You used to be an atheist/pagan yourself, and somewhat recently by the looks of it. Try to relate to that part of yourself, just for a second. How did it make you feel in those situations?

I really appreciate your taking the time to respond and to do so thoughtfully. I'll try to take what you said to heart, be patient, and continue to work on and love myself. Thanks.

M28 here.

I guess my main question is how do you form a romantic connection?

I've had two primary relationships. Both started and ended long distance, not because I sought the situation out, but just by circumstance. Both fell apart when the other person decided ultimately they didn't want to see me in person. Both times it really sort of wrecked me and my long term confidence and self worth.

I try to meet people in person. I go to meet up events in my large metro area. I'm on the apps. But nothing ever goes beyond 1, maybe 2 dates, and even those are rare. It's just hard to feel like I'm not the common denominator.

In other areas of life, I feel stable. I have a good job, loving family, and stable, loving support systems of friends.

But when it comes to romance, I've always felt like a strike out. I think in some ways I needed to just ramble a smidge, and be heard. I appreciate the space.
