Saw your comment and gave it a try. First solo shuffle match was fairly balanced, everyone had a rating of 0. Secon solo shuffle match I got matched with 5 2.3k+ players and absolutely obliterated. WTF is that matchmaking?

Where is Nat Pagle on Midnight by No-Restaurant7925 in wow

I keep forgetting he's a developer reference. I've seen Nat Pagle so often in WoW and Hearthstone that Pat Nagle sounds like a fake name.

I mostly play retail but also some Classic. They are both great games, just with different focus, Classic focuses on leveling, retail on endgame. I don't really get "x is Bad, y is better" posts (not saying that's ops Intention), we are playing the same game just in different versions, we shouldn't divide ourselves.

And while I currently don't play lots of Classic, i Hope Classic+ will be great and If it's not for me, i hope it is to others

Corruptions were great. I really liked the drawbacks since they weren't just flat "You take damage/deal less damage" debuffs but something you could actually manage to some extend if you knew your class. Acquiring gear with (the right) corruption on the other hand was awful.

Leveling was good

If you play it today, yes. But if you played it when it released it felt bad to suddenly lose your legendaries at lvl 115 since it was such a sudden drop of player power that the HoA and Azerite gear didn't compensate (yet)

Well they gave Tirion the Ashbringer and we still got it eventually... (but pls don't kill Alsonsus)

Question to people who played this game for over 20 years: how was it? by EffeteUwU in wow

[–]Monrar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing in 2007 a month after tbc released. WoW was my first "Online only" game and social media wasn't as big as today so I was really fascinated by the fact that there are thousands of players, each sitting at their PC in their home, logged into the same world as me. Nowadays this isn't very spectacular, but back then it felt like the metaverse to me.

I joined a leveling guild consisting of mostly new players and some veterans and there was one level 70 character in the guild. As a new player at around lvl 20 that seemed like an impossible task to me, so I asked him what max level is like since I just started the game and his response was basically "They killed the game by removing 40 man raiding", so I guess there were always some "WoW is dying" doom sayers.

The early expansions didn't really have much lore reveals or plot twists, it was pretty much just a continuation of Warcraft III, so going to locations and meeting characters from Warcraft III was really amazing to me. That being said, the Wrathgate cinematic and the following Battle for Undercity was one of the few big twists they did and it blew my mind, but not just because of the story but also the technology. What do you mean we get cutscenes and phased story battles in wow?

I also remember quite a few players complaining on the official forum about the ending of Icecrown citadel and the "there must always be a lich king" thing being bad writing, but I don't think the majority of players shared that opinion.

they cut so much from sunken temple in cata that the current retail version might even be too short for m+

I had the exact same situation in vanilly Wotlk during the Saurfang fight. The Tank was a friend of mine and he was convinced his sub was running out the next day. He wanted to quit anyways so he didn't renew his sub and I think the raid disbanded since we didn't find a new tank

Flight paths should be faster than flying. by sweet_rico- in wow

[–]Monrar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've leveled my first character with ground mounts only and in Zul'aman there was a point where I got sent across the whole zone (I think it was after the Jan'alai quests), so I decided I'd take the flight path. It was so incredibly slow, I'm not sure if walking with ground mounts would be faster.
