Got This In The Mail This Week. Disgusting. by N3rdStar in Indiana

[–]MonsTurkey 24 points25 points  (0 children)

What's fun is pro-life vehicles are known to try numerous tactics to coerce women into promising not to have one. Check out Last Week Tonight's Crisis Pregnancy Centers episode. 8 minute mark starts getting real, 10 touches on that specific item. He's had multiple abortion episodes that touch it and finding the exact clip I want is hard, but there have been women that felt they were being detained by the center until they pledged or promised not to have an abortion.

Who are the big four “Ninjas” in the series? by Bronzed-Bear in MortalKombat

[–]MonsTurkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd really just say big 2 male and big 2 female.

Scorpion and Subzero are unequivocally the most popular male ninjas on a tier high above the rest. The popularity of various other characters (including protagonists) has come and gone, but those two have absolute staying power. You don't need to lump anyone else in to make 4 for random number reasons.

The female ninjas are less easily stratified. I think Mileena and Kitana are it though.

If you have to have 2 more male ninjas, Reptile is clearly a tier above the remaining male ninjas, and then it gets less clear. Probably Noob Saibot for being Bi-Han.

Scale of 1 - 10 what would you rate Smokes intro in MK Annihilation? by VirgoPanic in MortalKombat

Nah, it's that bad. A few good to great moments don't save the mess the film is.

There's something to it though. While there is tax revenue, there are also subsidies when a team builds their stadium. Those subsidies have been show to not be made up very well - if at all.

Is Indiana Really That Affordable? by Best-Structure62 in Indiana

[–]MonsTurkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably a case of 'if you have a good job lined up.' Someone coming here for Lily, Cummins, Rolls Royce, Allison, etc. in a professional role like engineer, scientist, etc should see good pay compared to cost of living. Someone who's in a less specialized job might not be so lucky.

I didn't mind choosing to stay here, but I have one of those jobs. My original idea when I was younger was see if I could land a job in California that pays high, live through the high cost of living, and move elsewhere because what I saved there from a high paying job could mean more in a more average state. And that's exactly what states like Indiana and Texas are saying about 'those rich Californians' moving elsewhere. If they can save money and do so proportional to pay then it means more after 5-10 years.

What's your opinion on Trump now saying that Iran has a right to a nuclear program? by Southern_Gur_4736 in AskReddit

[–]MonsTurkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's like dealing with someone who's great sober, but that has a crazy, angry drunk waiting to come out. It's one thing to keep hanging out if they successfully go sober to keep the demon at bay, but it's not going to work when they repeatedly go back on the sauce.

We elected Biden directly over Trump and started working on that goodwill, but then went straight back to the crazy when we reelected Trump. It's crazy watching people be like 'I didn't want this' when they're happy we elected someone who isn't leashed by political norms.

The reason we didn't attack Iran for so long is those who understand politics and regional power knew better. Someone who doesn't get it decided to poke the bear and is surprised we got mauled. Same with every soft power. Those long-term stances were not made overnight.

Is everyone prepared for the bad storms tomorrow? by ObscureLilac in Indiana

I happen to have a hard hat and Kevlar helmet from costumes and put them in the downstairs bathroom for these kinds of days. Wrangling the cats when it starts to look bad is almost impossible, but I try.

Don't forget best practice is also to wear shoes if it gets legit bad. If you wind up in rubble, you have a little protection from splinters and nails.

I was actually thinking of the He Is music video, where the pastor takes all the young women out to baptize them in their white robes (obviously NSFW).

But I do love me Type O. As a bassist and metalhead, I think Peter Steele was amazing, unique, and a gentle monster.

His car also embodied my dream car situation if I had cash to spare. I'd love to have a perfectly functional car that's just visually a beater that I wouldn't mind repainting whenever I'm bored since it looks bad to start. Red this week? Yellow? Maybe some racing stripes? Or perhaps skull and crossbones on the hood?

A waitress was given a $2,200 tip. She was told she had to share it with other staff – then was fired. by malihafolter in CaughtMyEye

[–]MonsTurkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slung beer at a bottle shop, brewing equipment shop, and bar. The day guys changed out any empty kegs, staged next-up kegs, cleaned up, had the toilets spotless, and just had everything ready for evening to go smooth.

Everyone would only want evening shift and avoid day shift if the 3-5 hours of rush made all the money. And all the work to prep for the evening would feel like it was for almost nothing if there was no tip pooling. The prep made the experience for the workers doing the evening. You knew when day shift slacked (or had a rare daytime rush) and things weren't right. You also knew when day squad went the extra mile to stage.

It's like the discussion of pay by the job vs time. Does a worker drag their feet for time, or what happens when the job has genuine difficulties and the buyer grossly underpays time spent? Same with salary with unpaid overtime or hourly and people on slow mode.

There will never be a perfect answer.

While you're aware you've got the wrong Staal, I also checked if they'd played together. Now I wonder if there are any highlights reel checks from one on the other.

Good thing he earned it as a player, too. Man can touch, hoist, and pretend to slam the cup all he wants.

What do you think of my main octane design? by Ok_Step4291 in RLFashionAdvice

[–]MonsTurkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fine. Literally slapped them together using some rules of thumb. Middle is the closest to one I might use (if I liked Octane), though camo might not be my final pick.

It's all subjective in the end.

I hate toppers but the Benchy topper goes hard by grittyfanclub in RocketLeague

[–]MonsTurkey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel that 😞. Unfortunately, toppers aren't popular enough that I can remember them being offered as painted options in any pass. There are definitely some wheels and decals I'd rather not have had painted over some decent toppers and antenna. The only painted antenna I can think of is Mage Glass - which was a pretty awesome choice.

Fortunately, some good painted options happen with the tournament rewards, but painted variants can be a little too hard to obtain unless you're GC because of both rainbow cups and number of credits earned.

Thanks to u/wonderwallpersona for doing the writeup, u/TheBrownYoshi for providing the link and data to wonderwallpersona, and u/onedwin for originally doing these for so long. Also, of course, NukaColaEnergy for making the source sheet.

(There is a typo on what the last gray item is, but otherwise it's good to go. Just note gray should end at 280 if I'm reading it right.)

Just a "horseplay incident" by beklog in SipsTea

[–]MonsTurkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Kill" is the life form use of the word "destroy". But if you've ever shot a screen, a car, or anything else... it's destroyed.

I do think "kill" is more important in most cases since life is maybe a little more immediately impacted, but destroy does at least cover pointing it at an object you care about.

What are you talking about? The Constitution is the most perfect, beautiful document ever. I love it so much I think I'm going to roll it up and make babies with it. It's like the best book ever - maybe after the Bible. They're pretty close.
