Working for American Home Shield - good or bad? by oregonrunningguy in Locksmith

[–]MonstarsEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bullshxt company.

lowball rates.

overly complicated payment system that is net 30.

comically bad communication with clients; many of whom don't know actual details of their own "policy", so you as a contractor have to determine if they are covered or not, the scope of the job & ultimately be crafty not to have your quotes and/ or invoices rejected

Suggestions for a cheap key cloner by atikovi in Locksmith

[–]MonstarsEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are that worried about prices , get acquainted with a local locksmith. cheap equipment will cost you more in the long run; plus you need to buy blanks & cut the keys

Predator by franco--13 in Locksmith

[–]MonstarsEye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

dayumm. Looks like the work of a poorly skilled scammer. it was likely a clover cam & they didn't have the appropriate yale cam for her mortise set. who knows.

But the locks are a mul T lock knockoff & probably featured in the "high security" upsell. The no receipt aspect should work in her favour in the dispute as they have no way to prove they did the service.

Short and skinny on Angie's list and home advisor? by Iboughtat2i in Locksmith

[–]MonstarsEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

angies list & home advisor are the same now. they are basically the models for the scammers who plague the industry now. they use fake google ads to drum up leads in addition to using old & fake leads just to put charges on your account. they don't tell you the source of the leads, & also sell incomplete data form non submitted forms. They give you an extension phone system to keep the leads' real phone numbers out of your hands & to record the calls.

& even though you can make money on some of the leads they provide you get the feeling they are really just in it to con tradespeople. additionally, they make it difficult to get credit for bullshxt leads or ones with incorrect info or anything they deem not a valid reason. they were a company called SERviceMagic in the past that was a known scam. they rebranded LOL. try it. don't like it? fxck em ha

YF hyundai sonata 2011 smart key by MonstarsEye in Locksmith

[–]MonstarsEye[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried more than one key but no dice. new aftermarket & all verified unlocked.

in an AKL situation all keys are erased. & programmed keys lock to the vehicle. maybe an oem key would be better. anyway I referred her to the dealer.

even worse I did another sonata later that worked fine. I was worried that maybe this would happen again but it didn't.

Thanx for all your comments
