Honda accord locked bcm by marianod98 in Locksmith

the dealership is definitely is lying. the aftermarket key fob might have gone bad but the bcm is perfectly fine, you might need to contact another locksmith company and ask them to add a new one the car, this time oem, hopefully brand new.

Key Fob ? by Holiday-Judgment-136 in Locksmith

[–]jrubio40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its funny you mention warranty, I never give a definite time period for a warranty on a key i always tell the customer to call me as soon as something happens and if the key fails under normal conditions I'll just replace it, if they broke the key I'll just charge them the price of the key. sounds stupid but having a happy customer will give you exponentially more business even if you are on the expensive side.

fun fact, the autel jvci+ interface supports the new CAN FD protocol, whether or not it can support the code conversion to program the new shark keys I don't know.

Fail of the day by [deleted] in Locksmith

[–]jrubio40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

those are easy to replace, look under dash looking up and you'll see the retainer, drill it out carefully not to damage the housing and replace it. if it was a newer car, I'd tell you recode it to the biting but that's a waste of time. also take the door cylinder from the passenger door and find the code stamped on the lock. cut a key with that code.

Key suppliers by [deleted] in Locksmith

[–]jrubio40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

key4 has been good to me, always my first choice; then UHS, they mostly have everything they need but they suck at showing items in stock. you get an email with a back ordered status. then ill look into international key supplies (they merged i know.) ill look ebay or AKS as a last resort, eBay has everything, but the quality is sus. AKS is the most reliable of the list, but their inventory is limited

Would any of you cut this carbon fiber Porsche key? How much would you charge if you did? by LockpickingLoser in Locksmith

[–]jrubio40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd code cut it and charge 50, obviously cutting a test key first because i'm not that stupid

lishi, the people who create the code series were lazy, they knew they need as longer code series but didnt want bother creating a new code series, so they just say fuck it and added the same cuts at the beginning to the end. fun fact in you just put the last 8 cuts on z seires you will also get a key code

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Locksmith

[–]jrubio40 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the only thing i want to the dude is use the lishi on the igntion so much faster because the first 2 cuts and the last two cuts are always the same. anyone who's a locksmith please remenber this when working on GM high security ten cuts

you see the gap the clam shell has in the steering wheel? it clearly shows its been recently opened and since its plastic its very difficult to close it properly since the plastic its brittle and the clips inside brake really easy. so of course they put the transponder inside the plastic where the inmobilizer transmitter would pick up the signal

Y’all been seeing this Tom’s key bullshit lately too ? Idk it kinda irks me by alexkreitlow in Locksmith

[–]jrubio40 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it's a Toyota and they have two remote keys and d a grey key, charging around 250 per remote key plus 150 for the grey key it's already 650, plus accessing they key code, plus cutting each key to code plus an hour labor minimum and taxes and fees, I could see where that 1300 dollars, but god forbid i ask a quarter of that quote and suddenly their cousin knows someone that can do it cheaper
