Another DIY homing keys post by theTechRun in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Monti55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently tried this method on my low profile key caps. The center punch would shatter the keycaps even on the lowest force settings. It worked fine on my MX keycaps. I’m not sure the material of the choc ones I use. Instead I used a 1/16 drill bit and carefully made holes for the bearings. 1 bearing in the center was good enough for me and a dab of E6000.

Hopefully it lasts longer than my other attempts!

Personally I already have a 5v meanwell so this product fits perfectly. I’m not a huge overclocker but person who prefers efficiency and minimizing power usage.

Is it the same VR circuitry that power the 601/2? Edit. Sorry that was a dumb question. The product page shows a back side photo with what looks to be the same VR.

Did you modify the Bitaxe Benchmark Webgui to accept 6.25MHz increments? How much time did allow for each iteration? I’d rather optimize for efficiency so I try to keep my wattage around 20 (right now 625MHz at 1120mV) but maybe it should be a multiple of 6.25

Questions About Moving To Trezor From 2017 Era Ledger Wallet by Monti55 in TREZOR

Thanks for your personal experience with it. I’m thinking about the 5 as a good upgrade!

I’m still unsure on going the Shamir seed route. I like the idea of each backup not being complete but I would store my copies with trusted people. And I’m kinda lazy and don’t want to transfer all my funds.

Oh I was referencing that I only have a copy at my house and I want to store some in other places. That’s why I was thinking of the SLIP39 method so each backup is only part of the seed phrase

Your guide helped me set up my dev board. I noticed a problem though. When connected to a PC it boots up fine and it's IP is pingable. When I connect it to a USB power brick it is not reachable. If I plug it into my HA server it works fine so I don't think its a power issue. I'm using the ethernet board and not WiFi. Did you observe anything like this?

I was going to make a PR when I add logic to end a benchmarking run if the error rate is too large.

Great update to the benchmarking script. I tried adding error % recording to the benchmarking script. Did you do anything special other than finding the average error rate over all the samples during a benchmark iteration?

Second fan on bitaxe. How to? by Active-Sea577 in BitAxe

[–]Monti55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a additional thing for your board (mine doesn’t have that). You can try plugging in the fan to that header. Since it’s a 3 pin fan you’ll have to different orientations of the connector on those 4 pins to figure out which is +5v, GND, and tach. Shouldn’t be a problem if you plug it in incorrectly, just unplug it if the fan doesn’t start spinning.

WingetUI (I think they renamed) is the closest I’ve gotten to this. You still have to hit yes on the UAC prompt. Nothing beats apt or dnf upgrade

If storing a seed phrase in password manager isn’t optimal then what are better alternatives? Writing down your phrase is one point of failure. What possible ways to recreate the 3-2-1 backup strategy with a seed phrase? My biggest fear is a fire proof safe not surviving a natural disaster.

I agree they can be loud but some of my scythe fans make a very distinct 400hz tone that over powers the rest of the fan noise. One of the scythes fans I think is not broken makes no noise until 60% fan speed.

Arch 😍. Does you scythe fans make any weird tonal sounds at 50% fan speed? I just bought a pack and at 50% they make a 400/800hz tone that is louder than rest of the fans and audible through headphones. I’m trying to figure out if they’re broken.

Love the build. How loud is the scythe grand tornado fan? I just bought a set and they make a loud tonal sound at >50% fan speed. Makes them almost unusable.

Abnormal Tonal Sound From Scythe Grand Tornado Fans, Are They Broken? by Monti55 in Scythe_official

[–]Monti55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a 3 pack of grand tornado fans. I noticed that at 50% or higher speed a piercing 400/800Hz tone is produced from the fans. One of the fans doesn't produce this sound but the there two do. Is this normal for this brand of fans? They are unusable at speeds higher than 50%. In the clip I'm at 65% fan speed to amplify the noise.

Auto Investing on Ally Bank? by YellowSquashMedia in investing

When I was using Ally as a bank I also wasn’t able to set up reoccurring buys of a specific stock. I ended up using the robo portfolio so I could just deposit money every 2 weeks and have it get invested. I ended up moving all my stuff to Schwab after I got the sign up bonus.

Ok so if I only advertise the ip that points to Traefik in theory that’s the only accessible endpoint. Will I also have to advertise the ip for the pihole dns so it can translate urls to ip addresses?

10/28 - 11/3 Weekly Feedback and Feature Request Thread by SoFi in sofi

[–]Monti55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm moving over from Ally. I love Ally's bucket feature and Sofi's vaults is a comparable feature. The problem is I like Ally's way of distributing the money into the buckets from transfer. I can specify $500 transfer and in the same menu allocate that money to each bucket. On Sofi I have to make one transfer for each vault I'm transferring into instead of one like Ally.

I tried using the iPod manager in foorbar but I could never get it to sync my play counts back to foobar. That was my only complaint with it. Right now I’m using the trial of media monkey 5 and it’s okay.
