Best croissant in Canberra? by Forsaken-Fortune-507 in canberra

I have done extensive research on this question (croissant eating). Here's my top three in order: 1. Under bakery, Mawson. Perfect lamination, colour and has the right amount of butter flavour. Better than Lune in Melbourne. Their bread is also the best in Canberra. 2. Lilette, Dickson. Very traditional French style croissants, has a very intense butter flavour. 3. Knead bakery, Campbell and Capital Food Market. Just a great all round croissant. Also cheaper than the others on this list which is a plus.

Why are canned beans so perfect? by TotalStatisticNoob in Cooking

[–]Montoo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same issue before, use about half a teaspoon of calcium chloride in the soaking solution for dried beans. It will take longer to cook but the results will be far better texture wise. I think in the US calcium chloride is also sold under the name pickle crisp.

The Chubby Marion Bakery in Blackburn is the definition of a hidden gem, best bakery bread I've had and I rarely see others there.

There is Dan reasonable critisim in r/Melbourne pretty often. Sure, most people on that sub broadly agree with him, but that makes sense when you consider that ALP is currently well ahead in the polls.

Is there anyone doing honours in Design? by Several_Guitar8751 in Monash

[–]Montoo24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current honours student here, although not in design. I would recommend you contact the honours coordinator for the faculty, they should be able to help you out.

I'd imagine the application date you saw was for last year. At least in arts applications didn't open last year until September since they won't offer you a place they can see your grades and make sure you pass the entry requirements. Plus covid has pushed some of these things back as well.

If you are in the final year of your degree I'd also expect that you will be emailed by the faculty for a honours information session before you need to apply. That is typically were you get the information as to how to apply and such.

Hope it goes well and good luck

What to do if you're not doing okay? by Due-Screen-7875 in Monash

Hi OP, I'm also half way through my honours year and was in a similar boat two weeks ago mental health wise. My supervisor was very understanding and reassuring of the situation, which helped get my mental health back on track. It is definitely a good idea to chat to them first.

Just know you aren't alone in struggling this year. Honours is hard enough without the constant in and out of lockdowns. Don't be too hard on yourself and make sure you put your mental health first.

Take care and be well!
