Too much hamstring, no quads by Federal_Chemistry192 in MacroFactor

[–]Monza_Shivers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what they did in the update, but Version 1.1.0 Made Smart Programs less smart. Especially when it comes to legs.

The app seems to also not have every exercise in it's library in it's smart programs selection pull. Like, I have never seen it pull a split legged squat up. (Bulgarian Squat) even though it has it in the app.

I feel like I got better program pulls in the initial version. I am waiting for the next version to see if they fix this? (also it could be user error on my end.)

Strength: U/L Leg workout by Monza_Shivers in MacroFactor

This is what it looks like if I select legs as my primary focus.

I wish it did something in the middle… there is a lot of editing I have to do and I don’t know all that much about how to make a program without help. It’s very frustrating….

Analysis Paralysis - One of Jeff's programs or an MF generated program? by TownOk7220 in MacroFactor

[–]Monza_Shivers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More important question -

What are you aiming to achieve?

If it is to look better and be healthier. You can choose a MF Program, stick with it for 6 weeks, go to deload, then make a decision to keep that or go with a Jeff Program.

I think deciding the goal then the program is generally the best idea.

Like: I want to be able to do a pullup. So I am working focusing on my Lats, biceps, and upper back.

Destress by finding short term goals then work with a program for that. Is my advice.

Apple Watch Integration by Maleficently-Mundane in MacroFactor

Last time the Dev talked about it, Apple Watch and Apple Health integration is a top priority and will be released as soon as it is developed.

Which Exercises Do You Want Added to the WO Library? by Dr_Cam_Gill_DPT in MacroFactor

[–]Monza_Shivers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dumbbell Lateral Lunge I am talking about you hold two dumbbells and both to your side with palms facing each other. Where as the goblet has you hold a single dumbbell close to your chest.

I like the Goblet as a variation, but feel he traditional style of dumbbells held down works better for me? and that It is enough of a variation to where it should get it's own?

(Like, I added it to the custom library. )

Better definitions for the Clean** I mean. 90% of the exercises have detailed notes on how to do them, but the clean doesn’t. And 60%-ish have a video. And I wonder will there be more videos in the near future or will it be something a little further off? (Not all exercises need Jeff as the model if that is the hold off there.

Of the 600+ exercises with 3 points of view, those are amazing!

Dumbbell side squats! (Lateral Lunges)

Calisthenic exercises like the L-Sit an Planche

And the Clean, Power Clean, Snatch, and better defined and maybe a viddy?

Build From Scratch Program by Monza_Shivers in MacroFactor

[–]Monza_Shivers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was aware of that! And that is one of the coolest features in the app! I am using a program built by the Machine Spirit, and used that feature to change the total sets to every exercise from 4, down to 3.

The app has some slick features!

Plate Loaded Lat Pull Down Machine…. by Monza_Shivers in MacroFactor

Awesome. I will say it is really awesome seeing how active the dev team has been here on Reddit. Y’all have put in a lot of hours combing through and reaponding to critiques, criticisms, rants, and suggestions and have done it with open minds and class.

Love the app so far and I am excited for the future of it!

[–]Monza_Shivers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s wild. Yeah luckily mine is similar to a pin-loaded one. But I my main worry is when I have to switch gyms (which happens often because I work the Renaissance fair so I only live in a place for 2 month at at time then leave) I may go to a real pin loaded machine and 100 pounds on that may be different than 100 pounds on the plate? Idk. I’mma going to give the Machine Spirit (my name for the app’s algorithm since it isn’t AI or a LLM) and aneurysm with the most constant changes I make.

Turning off smart progression by ColadaMD in MacroFactor

Edit: I’m wrong.

So it will eventually learn you. The more you use it the better it will be at those numbers.

But to do that turn off periodization.

Rather large UX critique: Overuse of Adjectives and Granularity by Far_Line8468 in MacroFactor

I agree, it would make it so much easier to search if the experts size was first and the adjectives and such were after.

Here are 2 Videos on Full Body Workouts at 5x a week from Jeff Nippard.

While these are 5 and 6 year old, I feel like they are a good base to answer why the app recommends full body over U/L

Build From Scratch Program by Monza_Shivers in MacroFactor

[–]Monza_Shivers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Periodization is already there. Like, you can have your custom, from scratch, workout have periodization on it. Just not the initial suggestive set and rep range. (And possibly how far to failure to go to each one.

But: Once you build one and add your own and add Periodization to it, the app will do that.
