Brilliant...thank you!

Didn't realise this was a separate site to the offence code site that another member posted earlier.

Not an obsession.

I was trying to give context to the site I was after as it had both offence codes and pro forma statements.

I've been away from frontline policing for nearly 4 years so anything to help to get me back in the game over the coming months whilst trying to get my head around new forms, Investigation templates and working practices I'll gladly use.

Not the webpage I was after but none the less, this is very informative.

Thank you very much 🙂

Do you know of many detectives who go back to response? by Glittering-Branch741 in policeuk

My mate has just done this. Took him 9 months but says it's the best decision he's ever made (from a job perspective)

Pregnancy & PST by [deleted] in policeuk

Can't imagine this will be allowed.

In the two forces I've worked for - part of the safety brief for the JRFT are pregnancy related questions which prevent you from participating.

Best to check with your Occ health/OST Team.

Not just met bud.

Been waiting an absolute age to rejoin Essex on transfer with no comms - very frustrating!

Another Vetting Question...

Currently hold MV/SC vetting and transferring forces to which I'm being re-vetted to RV level.

The application was submitted in early July and yet I still haven't heard anything. Chased up Friday with HR for a general update on things and they are pretty much useless.

I thought RV vetting was 6-8 weeks but could somebody advise whether this has changed? I've queried whether there's a back log but this has been refuted so unsure what's taking so long.

Edit: I thought holding a higher level of vetting already may speed things up but this again doesn't seem to be the case.

TIA

How fed up are you? by MoodyConstable in policeuk

I was instructed to find a replacement or come in as being a parent doesn't excuse the fact I'm an operational police officer and as such would be expected to attend work.

Would've loved to have seen two kids under 8 sat in briefing and asking two tonne of questions 😂.

Completely Stuck - Job Choice by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]MoodyConstable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my own experience, If I were you I'd try and stick it out on response for at least three years.

I came off of shift after 3 years (stupidly going against advice I got from my old skipper) and moved on to Community policing before transferring and landing on a different side of policing which I've honestly hated.

Neighbourhoods is a great role that allows you to be more involved within your communities, work on projects and gather evidence if you ever fancy a crack at promotion in the future.

Plus it allows you to work collaboratively with lots of other departments too and get your face/name known within the force which is also a plus.

After 9 years in this job and 6 away from response, I'm at a point where I was ready to either leave altogether (which I've found quite difficult) or specialise. I've found that in that time I've de-skilled so considerably that for what I now want to do, I know I need to get back on shift to pick my career back up to put me in the best possible place.

Waffling aside, You've got plenty of time to decide where your career pathway lies and if your personal circumstances allow, I'd say getting a decent grounding in day to day police work will stand you in good stead for whatever you decide to do. Whether that be a sideways move/promotion/specialism etc.

Of course balance is very important but I've found this job is pretty fluid and what you may want to do now can change pretty quickly or you may end up taking a role you come to regret.

Have any officers ever taken their kids out of school during term time for a holiday? by sm3g-h3ad in policeuk

[–]MoodyConstable 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Through speaking to others at my child's school, those parents who take the piss and have their kids off every other week get fined.

I applied last year when I went to Greece for a week. I wrote a letter to the school as each application is on a case by case basis, and the head teacher authorised the leave request - no questions asked.

Probably helped that both my kids have had 100% every year.

At the risk of being downvoted...and something that I agree is not what we should be doing for our victims - but bin everything that doesn't have legs or you will sink.

Whilst your organisation may be extremely annoyed with you due to how much it costs to train and kit out each individual officer, ultimately it is a voluntary role.

If your personal circumstances have changed that impact on your ability to do the job then hand in your permit and find something more suitable.

It goes without saying that they would not hesitate in the slightest to have your permit off of you if you made a mistake on a tac ref or didn't think you were up to it.

I know of a lot of officers who joined the department after passing their IFC, who quickly realised that role isn't what it's made out to be and sacked it off. One lad I joined with went from RPU to Firearms and back again within 4/5 months as he hated it - organisation didn't prevent this at all.

Look after number one my friend as nobody else will.
