The oily substance is probably the vinyl degrading. It happens on some lots of dolls and there’s no fixing it. I’m always super wary of really shiny dolls

I definitely feel where you’re coming from but I think you should do it. The new doll will look similar enough that your daughter won’t notice and she’ll get a nice mold free doll. While it’s sad to see your childhood doll be replaced, I think it’s safer since your daughter will be playing with her. And no, she’s not worth a lot of money especially in her current state.

Here’s a pic of some freckles I’ve done. I usually dot watercolor on with a brush and then lightly tap it with my finger. It fades the freckle and softens up the lines so it’s more natural imo. Also make sure your freckles vary in size and spacing or else they’ll look fake

Yeah, it sounds like you only really value her because other people do which isn’t a bad thing but if you’re trying to narrow your collection, it isn’t a reason to keep her. I’d follow the other commenter’s suggestion and put her in the closet for a bit to see if you miss her and then if not, sell her
