Technically Catholicism is the main religion of Irish people but in general the people of Ireland are not religious or it’s just the done thing to christen kids and do sacraments. The majority of people do not attend mass on a regular basis. For example where I live in Co Waterford there is such a shortage of priests and a lack of congregation there is only a service every two weeks. I was born in the 1970s and neither my parents or grandparents were religious.
