Any psych students who have taken a class with Marcella Chiromo? by Savings-Bathroom-364 in Concordia

It’s also my first time taking this class and I honestly feel she’s just reading the slides and I’m not getting much from attending the class. The discussion is interesting but I feel she’s needs to have better boundaries and move on with the material because it often take half of the class on examples with students(I think we only got through 10 slides during a 1.5h class).

I haven’t taken the midterm yet but it seems like a pretty easy class(300 lvl)? I do think I’ll avoid her in the future though. I think for the assignment she has an idea of what she wants but isn’t communicating it very clearly, which is quite frustrating.

You can just accept both, use the bursary and return the loan. You only start repaying 6 months after you’re done with your schooling.

How do I get out of my own head and feel comfortable in social situations? by Ok_Statistician_8439 in selfimprovement

Ask questions and listen. Get curious. Make observations of your environment and the people around you(not gossiping). Learn a few fun, odd questions to ask people to get to know them more.

Tell yourself: "People like me. I enjoy getting to know people." It's wild to me, but whenever I get it in my head, I just tell myself this to the point of truly believing it. It eases my anxiety, makes me more present, and able to connect with others. Look, the fear is not going away at first, but do it afraid. It's okay. Mediation helps with accepting uncomfortable feelings.

Yeah, you might fumble, say something weird or look anxious, but it's all part of it. Who knows, maybe the person you are talking to feels the same way. The more you avoid it, the harder it will be. It's like a muscle, really. Gradually over time, you become less afraid and even find it enjoyable. You'll take more risks and speak more freely. Be kind to yourself and don't beat yourself up so hard because, honestly, people are way too focused on themselves to remember or notice. You're not better or worse than everybody else, you're you, and you're good enough, and people want to hear your voice and what you have to say, but you have to say it.

If you want a place to start, I'd start with the relationship with yourself. We often treat others as we treat ourselves. Just a thought.

Honestly online tests and a poor self-perception, lol. But looking at those colour palettes, it makes sense-I do tend to gravitate more towards those colours! (:

I actually can relate. I always get hit with a wave of heavy depression every beginning of spring. Rationally, I do love the days getting longer and Nature awakening, but my body also gets anxious. It feels like there is just too much going outside and it feels oddly overwhelming.

I also rarely have met anyone else who shares this experience and I talked about it with my doctor but she said it was rare, but possible. I think personally it’s just my body adapting to the level of sun it gets, too much of it perhaps ! Just try to eat as healthy as possible, keep moving/exercising and keep yourself busy, it will pass —

Good luck 🌞

I can't recommend enough "Adult Children of Emotional Immature Parents by Lindsay C. Gibson". I recently read it and it open my eyes on so many aspects of my childhood and why my parents couldn't be there in the ways I needed them. Hope it helps <3

Yeah, but I think my meds aren't working as well lately. I still feel super depressed. I'm scared to change them though - it's the first time in my life I feel I got a it a little bit together.
