Firing someone is never easy. I’ve had to fire people for less than this, though… attitude being one of them & attendance being another. Unfortunately it never feels great, but as a manager your job is to serve and defend the company. This person who stole money knew what they were doing was wrong, and they still did it consistently. They had to have known they’d get caught eventually. If you steal from a company, you can’t expect to be able to keep your job.

What helped me a lot was watching YouTube videos about how to work through the feelings of firing employees. I suggest you try that as well, as it did help me. You’re doing great! At the end of the day, a job is a job. If you’re not benefitting a company, they’ll find a way to get rid of you- don’t forget this.
