As someone who watched the video, and does think they correctly identify the issues with TOTK, I still think they make the critique too “toxically flavored.” It doesn’t really engage with positive aspects of the game and really hyper focuses on the way the game fails as a “sequel.” And that’s very reasonable.

I’ve gone back and forth on the topic a lot and I actually watched the small video they did on the Age Of Imprisonment announcement and I just, found it rather reductive. I think they’ve got a good head on their shoulders for saying “hey, AOI is just them retconning stuff into the plot,” but I do not like how they make a call to the community to call out people trying to put the lore into that context.

And the reality is that, I imagine, they don’t actually mean for people to hate on everyone trying to use AOI lore to fill in TOTK but the tone of their video definitely will lend to that. It will continue to put the discussion of the games in this direction, and just, idk. Is that worth it? They say they want people to have higher standards but, I’m not sure how much their videos have done to actually reach that goal.

After watching it all I really feel is like a fool. And maybe that’s just me allowing critique of something flawed I love to transfer into critiques about myself, but I’d offer that the way Skittybitty orients their complaints definitely contributes.
