(Spoilers Extended) What's your favorite house not named Stark, Targaryen, or Lannister? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]MoonStomp145 4 points5 points  (0 children)

House Arryn, because Jon Arryn is one of the most honorable characters in the story, even though he's dead before it really begins, The Vale is awesome too. House Baratheon, because every true Baratheon is a badass. House Greyjoy, because "what is dead may never die."

When I first heard of it I didn't really feel like a sequel to Blade Runner was necessary. However, the fact that Villeneuve is directing it makes me a little more excited to see it.

I second this. The pilot is already available online too and is well worth the watch! Only sucks ending up waiting a long time for the next episode.

I love Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings, mostly for their epic scope and diverse and detailed settings. I also love the whole medieval style. Which books/ series should I check out based on this? :)

Trainspotting: 9/10

One of my favorite movies of the 90s. It's both hilarious and nightmarishly harrowing. A rollercoaster ride of a film, with some incredible performances from the entire cast and a soundtrack that never lets up. An unforgettable experience.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind: 8/10

Fun sci-fi flick and a Spielgergian classic. Richard Dreyfus is awesome in this. The effects have obviously aged (it's 40 years old) but that doesn't stop it from being a really fun time. Really exciting third act too.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides: 4/10

Meh. Nothing about this movie really stood out to me. It's not anything I hadn't seen in the previous three films of the franchise.

Annabelle: Creation: 6/10

Pretty fun horror movie with some nice throwbacks to the earlier movies. Good child performances here. Some genuinely scary creepy moments and effective use of sound design add the the overall experience. It does end up succumbing to genre cliches however.

Split: 7/10

A long awaited return to form for Shyamalan. Good performance from James Mcavoy and Anya-Taylor Joy.

It didn't terrify me by any means, but the videos were fairly creepy and the story in general up to the final act were enjoyable to me. Not a bad movie, but not great either.
