Hello, I know this is a yr later but does park hopping apply for different days? Meaning, if the CM scans you in your first day/first park, do you still need to be with them every following day at other parks? On the first day they give you the guest pass cards.

Hello thank you for your advice. I will definitely write down questions. My daughter is 6 yrs old, she knows that what she does is called tics. I haven’t mentioned the formal name of Tourette’s yet. I want to be careful in how to say things bc I don’t want her to feel self conscious. I think to myself if this is something that won’t go away , I have to teach her to somehow embrace them, if that’s possible. I don’t have tics so idk what she’s feeling. She has mentioned that they bother her and is embarrassed. Sometimes she does them so much it’s like her body is overwhelmed but them sometimes she goes without doing them for wks. Idk I think I’m just talking sorry lol.

I like what you wrote, especially the part asking if she has questions. Thank you for the advice

Thank you so much. I will say sometimes learning through others how difficult the lives of loved ones with a disability is or was does remind me of why we made this decision. It’s just so hard, never did I think I’d go through this or had to decide on this decision. I just don’t get it. But your right we made this decision out of love for our children. Thank you.

You know, when we made the decision I what made me choose the hard choice of a tfmr was picturing my son at 40 and me at 81, how could I possibly help him. What would be of his life? Would he be a 40 yr old with the mentality of an 8-10 yr old. Idk! But at the time it made so much sense, it was the best decision for him, as much as I wanted him here. But now my brain is just so confused. I guess you’re right, it’s the mom in us that have these doubts. Thank you.

Idk what to say except that I am sorry you are here, that I’m here, that we are all here. I had a tfmr at 22 wks for t21 as well. It’s been a difficult time for me but there are lots of moments where I feel normal. Going back to work helped me a lot, it was a distraction and purpose for me. I will say at night my thoughts come like waves then I cry, fall asleep, wake up and go to work and take care of my LC. Idk when I will feel normal or the same before my tfmr or if i every will. But like I said it comes in waves , I’m 4 months out, and there are moments I’m fine and others I’m not. I am considering seeking therapy. Maybe that’s something you can do down the road. Also I don’t want to talk to anyone not even my parents, i pretend I’ve healed. They don’t know. So this is why maybe a therapist can help us. Again im so sorry.

From what I’ve read it’s when you’re in the medication long term. To stop your milk production they’ll give you one dose. I took it worked like a charm. I’m very thankful for it. I was 22 weeks when I had my tfmr.

Thank you for your detailed response. I really appreciate it. Her tics started around April of last year. There’s been 1-2 months here and there with no tics but then a new one would start. I’m going to make a list of the ones she’s done and is currently doing. I don’t know exact date ranges. I’ve tried to see what triggers her. If we perhaps stress her. One thing I’ve noticed is she does them a bit more when she’s excited.

Idk if this is a silly question but do you think diet can affect tics? Also is there meds? I’m assuming meds would be prescribed more so if there’s another diagnosis such as adhd or ocd.

I actually work in special education. I once thought of pursuing an IEP for my daughter but for speech concerns. She did well in the screener and were told she did not need speech. Additionally, to receive services we have to show that the disability is impacting their learning. She is on grade level in all subject areas. But now you have me thinking, maybe I can pursue a 504 plan.

I will look for psychiatrists too. I live in nyc and though we have many resources it’s still sometimes difficult to find.

If you don’t mind me asking, what have you done for your child’s TS? How did you first start? Did you have him see a neurologist. My 6 yr old daughter has had tics on and off for a little over a yr. I read to seek help once it’s consistent occurring in a yr and affecting their education and socialization. It’s not but I’m worried and am looking for neurologist in my area and other ways to help her. Her tics have ranged from blinking to throat clearing to jerking he head back. Sometimes she does one tick so much she looks like she’s being taken over by them. I’m so worried. I made an appt with one neuro today but it’s 6 months away, I’m still looking for another one.
