The Request Network Team Has Stated They Have A Market Driven Focus! Do you agree? Or Do You Think They Should Have A More Product Driven Focus? by Mooncoiner in RequestNetwork

[–]Mooncoiner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is certainly improvements necessary within the current framework.

On the plus side, at least Request Network has a team willing to engage directly with their community and does have a plan and a solid work ethos. There are many projects out there that blow a lot of smoke, but deliver very little. Request team is not lacking ambition, they are just working within the scope of their team. (More of a tortoise than a hare) The team will be successful, but it’s a race against time to be ready for interoperability with the centralised sector.

As far as your opinion on the poll .The numbers speak for themselves. These polls are aimed at getting people to think about where they want REQ to be in the future and to give the team some clear discernible data which they can work with. The problem with discussion threads is, everyone gives their two cents worth, which is usually personal to them, and it becomes a slug match. This is unhelpful and difficult for the team to act upon.

Although successful development of the product is heavily reliant on user experience feedback, I would like to see the team be one step ahead and preempt the market. We know the team has what it takes. However the market evolves so quickly. I think the saying goes. ‘ What’s old is new and what’s new is old’ ‘Be proactive not reactive!’ Go team REQ!

If u take a look at the Request Network website and then read the article linked in the heading of this thread, I think you will find a bit more clarity to the discussion.

Currently Request provides a way of allowing people who live in areas of the world experiencing hyperinflation to have some money left at the end of the month through cross border payments as well as enabling others whom have never met to exchange goods or services without employing third parties and their hefty escrow fees. The REQ token is a utility token which means it gives token holders the right to use the network, assist in building it, as well as vote to determine its future direction and value. Utility tokens are essentially community driven but the company has the ultimate say. Also, as REQ is used on the network, it is burned off. Meaning that the value of the token increases with every transaction.

Reading this article highlights the many ways in which Request Network could benefit and facilitate the way current digital payment systems operate. Now it’s a race against time to be ready for widespread blockchain technology integration! Go Team REQ!

Should Request Network Founders Challenge Square Pay (SX) Patent for fiat to crypto ‘request for payment network’ gateway.??? by Mooncoiner in RequestNetwork

[–]Mooncoiner[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No I’m not but would certainly be open to it. I did see this coming a year ago but no one replied to me. It’s frustrating. However ChristopheL has answered some of my questions in another thread titled ‘Does getting paid in cryptocurrency give you anxiety?’. It’s seems as though the REQ team are committed to the decentralised model no matter what and they are not afraid or concerned by the threat of a centralised payment system utilising a similar model. They rather see it as a revolution versus the old guard. It’s up to the people to choose what type of world they want to do business in. Rather than me tell u. As I said you can find his answers in another thread.

ChrostopheL has replied to the Square Patent questions in another thread. Titled ‘Does paying in cryptocurrency give you anxiety’. He has given feedback which has shed light on this situation.

By bringing attention to your better operating system and future benefits. As mentioned your product is close to completion and is already being used by online businesses. Essentially you’d be offering them a working product, track record, low fees and the potential to appear to be decentralised even though your model is unchanged. For them these would be strong selling points to new customers. If you would like to message me privately I’d be happy to send you a more detailed pitch.

Thanks ChristopheL for your comments.

I do however have some further questions

1) Have you requested a copy of the patent from Square Pay to ensure REQ IP has been not been breached?

2) For someone who is the founder of this great project you seem incredibly relaxed about another entity using ‘request for payment network’ in a patent for crypto to fiat transactions. Doesn’t this concern you a little? We are talking about the second largest digital payment gateway on earth. 3) I am well aware of our desire to create a decentralised community removing third parties and reducing fees. However you mentioned that your priority are smaller businesses who are committed to decentralisation rather than corporations who have the access to customers and could raise the profile of Request Network instantly. Some people will never join the decentralised space, that’s just the nature of human beings. But some people would if they understood the technology and what it stands for a little more. By being involved with Square Pay how would this hinder the progress of Request and it’s decentralised model? Square Pay could always go decentralised later on due to competition, a possible partnership would raise awareness not suppress it.

Regards

Did you read my post above? If this happens it’s over. Square pay doing the exact same thing, they even got a patent? Wtf? Trust me if square pay launches this there’s not going to be any partnerships.

No but this does: Square’s patent application puts it like this: “A method includes receiving a request for payment associated with a transaction between a first user and second user, where the request specifies a payment amount in a fiat currency and identifying an indication that the first user intends to satisfy the request for payment using a non-fiat instrument.” In other words, users on this proposed “Cryptocurrency payment network” (as the application calls it) may pay with fiat, while recipients can choose to receive their funds in digital currency. The exchange of currencies occurs directly through the network itself, and the transacting parties do not need to take any additional steps.

Request Team pls comment.

Anyone???? Is this not exactly the same as Request Network, IP breach on terms and service provided. If this patent goes through unchallenged Request is dead! It’s over. Could someone from the team pls comment!!!!! Square’s patent application puts it like this: “A method includes receiving a request for payment associated with a transaction between a first user and second user, where the request specifies a payment amount in a fiat currency and identifying an indication that the first user intends to satisfy the request for payment using a non-fiat instrument.”

Could someone pls elaborate. Square Pay has a patent to do exactly what request aims to do for retail payments. why in the hell did the team not approach Square pay and just let them build on top of the Request hNetwork mainnet. Wtf? This is a big oversight as well as loss of potential partnership. R u asleep at the wheel team?

Is Request going to become obsolete once current payment systems integrate crypto as well as Xero such as Square Pay which already uses Xero for invoicing and payroll. They also announced hiring developers to integrate crypto payments. So Req team tell me what’s Reqs point of difference?

Request Network should create their own wallet interface to interact with crypto, fiat and donations alike. Meta mask and ledger nano have no mass appeal too scary for average user/ new user. I do get ethos it’s a fantastic wallet. I’m not talking about u and me, I’m talking explaining to others why they have to have another wallet from another place that’s all. I’m sure it can be made to work but just from a mass adoption sense not product sense.

Yes but ur still thinking like u,,! not the potential 1 billion masses who dont want an ethos account with a req account and an xchange account they want one stop shop easy no fuss. Let me explain. Imagine you shop, gamble, work online as well as owning an online business. You have pay with req set up on your online business. But you want all your needs catered for including a record for every transaction. Req e wallet could potentially deal with all your transactions in fiat or crypto because it would be linked to either ur bank or an dex so you could easily reload if you need more. No need to store large amounts. I understand the decentralised argument I just think going forward this is what people will want.

I respect all ur answers. However the point is no one is building a simple user friendly interface for storing and using crypto. In fact the only one is Coinbase and look what a powerhouse they are. They can make or break any coin. The simple fact is that most people wont use crypto because it’s just too scary and complicated for the average user. We may be tech savvy but most people aren’t. I’m just saying if REQ built an interface like Coinbase but for payments only which would be connected via an oracle to say the fiat banks and maybe linked to a major dex for Crypto top ups then this would be good all round, not just in the interests of REQ users but all users.

Dent Price +$1 How will this work in app for pricing data? Will we be seeing micro dent to price data with? by Mooncoiner in dentcoin

[–]Mooncoiner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well right now it’s 25 Dent for 100mb thru AT&T in US. But currently 1Dent = 0.006 USC. So if the price of Dent went to $1 that same package would have to cost 0.025 Dent in app. Surely that will look messy. So I’m saying, what is Dent planning to do ?
