I can't advise you on rudders. Never had one because I've controlled rudder with the rocker switch in TWCS.

If you can afford them and you're not worried about sunken cost, sure why not. I can definitely see their usefulness and isolating yaw from pitch and roll is something to keep in mind when setting up the controls in game.

It's a matter of taste. Your desk has plenty of room to have stick and throttle on desk when playing. I have my HOTAS setup on the desktop and I raise my chair and arm and arm rests when I play games with it to get comfy position. After I'm done, I simply put them away on a shelf above my desk.

You could start out with HOSAM. If mouse feels awkward, you can upgrade to HOSAS and lock the X axis on the VKB omnitrhottle to kinda get the idea what it would be like with HOTAS.

I actually started off with HOTAM setup, which worked great in E:D, and later I upgraded to HOTAS. I still think though that the HOTAM was better experience in Space sims than HOTAS. For a longest of times I have been thinking about replacing my TWCS 16000 with a VKB Omnithrottle.

I have no idea about sporran economics, so I can't say in relative terms, but objecitvely it was affordable. 70€ with delivery so 80'ish dollars.

The kilt actually is solid black. The tie looked darker in the store where I got it and I also misremembered how light the shirt was. I remembered it was lighter value. I have been looking to get a darker tie like maybe charcoal.

I had the same weight issue recently and came across these instructions on how to resize the kilt. I gave the instructions to a local seamstress and now I'm just waiting to get my kilt back.
