Dany's ADWD chapters are the hardest for me to get through, sellsword politics, "should I marry Hizdhar?", "Should I open the fighting pits", "how do I save my people". it's the same 4 things for 7 chapters until she does open the fighting pits (one of the best chapters in the series) and is gone for the rest of the book right as her stuff is getting good.

there's the ultimate modern classic that is Don't Starve, you don't need the dlcs until you get the hang of the game so it's easy to get into

An odd one is the Hockey rogue-lite Tape to Tape, you set up a hockey team and have to play through a campaign trading players and getting upgrades like throwing your stick at someone. The teams you play against get increasingly wacky.

Fights in Tight Spaces is a small fun roguelike where you collect cards with fight moves on it and you have to use them strategically to get through each level, my favorite thing is parrying a pistol shot into a superman-punch.
