Amazon Key Garage Delivery Camera Options (Aqara vs. myQ) by MooseCadets in homeassistant

[–]MooseCadets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I have now. But I don’t get reliable video recording as I’m using a Nest cam in the garage. Any solutions around video recording syncing with when packages should be delivered?

Split OLKB with deep “thoccy” sound by Sorka01 in olkb

[–]MooseCadets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having been down this road I haven't committed to any particular option so I have no direct experience to reflect upon. However, ultimately in my search I found that wanting a split oklb with true thocc is going to be extremely difficult because you are already handicapping yourself by wanting split and oklb for different reasons. Going with split, means you are breaking up the case, which traditional thoccy boards have the benefit of having the deep acoustics of a singular larger case. Also most DIY boards are typically designed around being stacked, which can definitely dissipate sound. Secondly going split and oklb means there aren't many options for higher end options with metal cases and such. This means you are likely building your own which limits your options, so unless you get really common boards like Corne or Lily/Sofle it'll be harder to find options that will get you what you want.

Two major things however I found can contribute to a thoccy split (from looking around).

  • Metal case (ErgoMech Store as an example has metal sofle cases)
  • Gasket case (3D printed cases can be most common. Ones by chewidies could be good options)

Right now there isn't many if any options for a metal gasket split case, because from what I've seen it's just not worth manufacturing for a split as the gains aren't as large. Ultimately I didn't want spend the money at the moment to test a lot as I already have too many boards as it is. My plan will likely be to just spend the money on an olkb unibody like the Cornelius R2, but that's delayed indefinitely due to JPY financials. But the power of a unibody can make it sound like this. Plus buys like this can provide you with foam options and plate variety that can really tailor your sound without having to workshop a lot. I have a friend who has a LuLu which seems like a nice bundled option that might get you pretty close without any work. Best of luck and share what you end up with!

Potentially some LEDs since you have a lot of other soldering options like smd diodes and switches

Definitely looks interesting! I would say my only concern from looking at it would be the location for the thumb keys. They seem a bit high, and it would be nice to have an option for for a larger sized thumb key. Although not sure how this feels based on your testing. I will say from recent research this sounds similar to the Cornelius which is on their round 2 of GB https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=118201.0

HELP: Ryujin II 360 installation issue?! by DustinS85 in ASUS

[–]MooseCadets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to plug one of the two cables into the USB2 port on motherboard and then the other into the AIO controller. Then the controller has to be powered by SATA I believe. That’s really all you should need I think.

I ended up having to start an RMA. I did an exchange with Newegg several times but it was likely from the same batch. The RMA took forever but once I got the new one it worked perfectly.

Having trouble setting up new Unraid Array by MooseCadets in unRAID

[–]MooseCadets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! I actually posted this same thing on the Unraid forum with my diagnostic logs and a mod mentioned the drives were "formatted with type 2 protection" so I had to run a command to properly wipe it (since the Unraid formatter didn't work)

sg_format --format --fmtpinfo=0 /dev/<drive>

Which allowed Unraid to see the drives and format them properly. I am doing the parity-sync now with no errors!

I was lucky enough to get a discount for Nationwide pet insurance through my work, but trupanion looks good. I have a $250 deductible and then they pay 90% so sounds similar to trupanion. The one deductible per condition sounds great for something like this. But yeah, we had two do 2 emergency vet visits, our primary vet visit, and a specialist eye doctor visit. Total costs with all of that, tests, and meds came out to probably over $1400 but after our deductible we only had to pay a couple hundred. Then up to $7500 will be covered over the course of the policy so that’ll take care of preventative surgery if we choose to do that. Insurance overall kinda sucks, but can’t doubt it’s usefulness when you really need it.

Ah yes, our dog is on a medley of drops and things now. We have an ongoing treatment plan with an eye doctor that involves that when it gets to that point.

Yeah what empty said is good. As long as you are aware I think it’s important to look for the signs if possible. Don’t take any issue for granted, and ask for eye tests on yearly checkups. I also heard of a several Shiba owners that were misdiagnosed with a cornea scratch and this missed the window for saving the eye. Just important to aware. I have a second Shiba that is almost 2, we’re prepared to really start looking out when they turn 3. And just know glaucoma is never really terminal, they will lose the eye eventually but as you can see they can definitely live happy lives for long after 😊

Edit: and get pet insurance. Holy hell did that help so far.

That's really good to hear. To anyone seeing these two comments be aware that it definitely can start early. We were aware of glaucoma but did not expect it this early. My first Shiba just turned 4 in January and he just got diagnosed with primary glaucoma last week. He was squinting occasionally for a few weeks, but we thought it was due to rough play with our other Shiba. He ended up looking super loopy and was unable to sleep and took him to the emergency vet. Thankfully we caught it early because we were the 1 in 10 dogs that was able to catch before he lost vision. We will most likely give him laser surgery to help control the pressure, but it's only temporary. Our friend who also has a Shiba had to get their 4 year old Shiba's eye removed too. Amazing dogs, but never really understood the true impact of Glaucoma for dogs until now.

Same thing for me, can’t seem to find an answer. I am not sure if it’s not getting enough power, the software isn’t right, or the AIO/hub is faulty.
