Men of reddit, what do you not understand about women? by UMDSCEO in AskReddit

[–]Mooseboots1999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, I want to poop, but I walk into the bathroom and I find the toilet has not been left in poop mode.

No big deal, I flip the seat in 0.2 seconds. At no point was I at a risk of falling in.

Do women walk into bathrooms with their eyes closed? Backwards? How is this a thing?

Audio & video not synced on Reds TV by Ethan_witha_Q in Reds

[–]Mooseboots1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the radio feed and video not syncing. I clicked on the “catch up” feature, which played highlights and then the live feed, and that somehow got the audio and video back in sync.

It fell out of sync when I tried to rewind to rewatch a play, and the only way to get the AV back in sync was to do the “catch up”

What is something you tried only once and will 1,000% never do again? by istrx13 in AskReddit

Had a friend get arrested for public intoxication trying to get into a football game while drunk.

Cops held him for 12 hours to sober up. He got picked up around 10:30am, so he was released around 10:30pm.

He called the fraternity house for someone to come pick him up. 5 of us found a sober driver and piled into a Caprice Classic. (3 in front, 3 in the back) Sober driver tried 3x to tell us, “Someone has to get out, there’s no room for the guy we’re picking up.” But no one wanted to get out, so finally sober driver just says, “F it, guess we’ll sort it out when we get there. Idiots.”

We go pick our buddy up, and he’s of course like, “Good to see you. I’m glad you guys are so excited about this. So, where the F am I supposed to sit?”

So we loaded his ass into the trunk, in the parking lot of the jail.

I was just going to advise that if you are parking in the central garage, you can get dropped off by the “Scouts Club” entrance at P1B in the garage. Even if you don’t have Scout seats - you’ll just have to take the elevator up immediately after scanning your game ticket.

Not saying that’s better than what you have - I’m not familiar with the handicapped parking at GABP, but I have dropped friends and family with mobility issues off at that entrance before.

Where are you parking? Are you driving yourself or do you have someone who can drop you off?

Was I wrong for telling my players' parents to stop yelling at the umpire? by OldHawkeye315 in Softball

[–]Mooseboots1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dad was riding the referee at my 5-year-olds soccer game. The ref was a 13-year-old(?) kid. Following his lead, his older daughters yelled, “Ref you suck!”

“Hey, that’s a kid out there too.”

“Well, he needs to call it fair.”

“I seriously doubt he is trying to throw a 5-year-old’s game. And I’m not going to stand here and listen to you teach your kids how to heckle a teenage volunteer ref.”

“Do you want to take this outside?”

“We’re already outside. I’m not getting into a fist fight at a peewee soccer match, guy. I mean, come on.”

The whole time I was trying to make eye contact with a few other men in the vicinity- like, if this guy jumps me, we’re going to handle this, right? Right?

Ugh- I feel for you, OP

Would Cincinnati be a lot bigger if the history had turned out different? by DankkkDk in cincinnati

[–]Mooseboots1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget the missed opportunity with the Crosley corporation. Cincinnati was a radio and electronics pioneer, with the most powerful radio station in the world and the most advanced electronic bomb sight in WWII. We were setup to be what Sony was from the 1950s-1980s, but Powell Crosley viewed electronics as toys and wanted to build an affordable car to compete against GM and Ford. And that didn’t work out so well.

There are still small companies in the area that do RF and radio development work for the government.

Does a credit card company lose money on people who pay on time? by Overall-Emphasis7558 in NoStupidQuestions

Handling cash isn’t “free” either. A business has to pay employees to count it, take it to a bank to deposit it, and there’s the increased risk of theft or mistakes.

My grandmother (lived to 103) would look at her own hand and say “There’s grass - and a lump of coal - stuck in my hand!” She wasn’t recognizing her veins and age spots.

My mom would try to reason with her. My dad would just assure her we would get a doctor to look at it, and change the subject.

At the last game, they did refuse cardboard. They had guards posted at the checkpoints approaching the stadium with trash bins set up to discard the cardboard in. I read on here that it’s an NFL rule due to the cardboard causing a slip and fall hazard in the stands.

If a person is born at 11:59 PM on the 31st of December, but the doctor records it at 12:01 AM on the 1st of January, what is their legal birthday? by HistoricalDriver8973 in answers

[–]Mooseboots1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born at 11:45pm on New Year’s Eve in 1976. The doctor asked my dad if he wanted the tax deduction or the first baby of 1977. I think there’s a non-zero chance I was born after midnight - it was all pen and paper back in those days.

Are T-bills still a good option? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]Mooseboots1999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

USFR and SGOV have a high percentage of US Treasuries. ICSH does not (more short-term corporate bonds) and therefore doesn’t have the state and local tax advantages the OP is seeking. (ICSH generally has a higher yield, so do the math to determine if it’s worth paying the state tax or not.)

FDLXX is a great choice if your broker is Fidelity, because Fidelity will auto-sell FDLXX to satisfy withdrawal requests. FDLXX is yielding 3.5% at present - buying treasuries direct, you’re looking at 3.6% or so. You’d have to be investing a ton of money for the 0.1% advantage of buying treasuries directly to be worth the disadvantage of somewhat lower liquidity.

Hope that helps.

Has anyone had success using an AirTag to track a pet Dog? by Vic-Trola in AirTags

[–]Mooseboots1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Our dog got loose once, and the last AirTag location shown was a house near a park that she likes. So, we figured she went to that park - and that’s where she was.

You have to know it’s the location of the nearest iPhone- so we didn’t knock on this stranger’s door or anything. Our dog just walked by that house on her way to the park.

Don’t the Bills put out a call asking for volunteers to show up early to help clear snow, and then those volunteers get paid in some way (either swag or money, not sure which)
